Former L�ndon high school secretary dies at 82
VERA LAWRENCE
Vera Lawrence of
Goderich, formerly of
Hamilton, died Wednesday,
April 28 at Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital
following a lengthy illness at
the age of 82.
She was born in Goderich
Township to Levi and
Frances (Jenkins) Trick on
August 16,1899.
She attended S.S. no. 11
OBTU

Goderich Township School
and Clinton Collegiate
Institute.
She lived in Goderich
Township until 1921 and then
moved to London where she
lived until 1935. While in

first secretary at Sir Adam
Beck Collegiate from 1926
until 1933.
She married Fred
Lawrence in London on June
29, 1935.
Following' her marriage
she lived in Hamilton untie
moving to Goderich in
December of 1980.
The late Mrs. Lawrence
was a member of St. John
United Church in Hamilton
and a life member of the St.
John UCW.
She was predeceased by
her husband; her parents;
two sisters, Mrs. Fletcher
(Hattie) Townsend and Mrs.
William (Jennie) Wise; and
one brother Arthur Trick.
She is survived by five
nieces, Mrs. Alfred (Evelyn)
Hudie of Clinton, Mrs.
Robert (Muriel) Glen of
R.R.3 Clinton, Mrs. Lorne
(Harriet) Tyndall of Clinton,
Mrs. Robert (Eleanor)
Hanson of Florida and Mrs.
Jack (Lois) Greenall of

Cemetery.

Harold Good of Goderich
died at his residence on
Wednesday, May 5 at the age
of 73.
He was born in Colborne
Township on September 3,
1908 to Albert and Maude
(Jewell) Good.
He farmed in Colborne
Township until moving to
Goderich.
He was a member of
Victoria Street United
Church, Goderich.
He is survived by his wife,
the former Gladys Van -
stone; two daughters, Mrs.
Fred (Elda) White, of
Goderich and Mrs. Harold
(Gloria) Kirkconnell of
Goderich Township; one son
Benson of Corunna; five
sisters, Mrs. Gladstone
(Mary) Grigg of Clinton,
Mrs. Jack (,Minnie) Farrlsh
of Listowel, Mrs. Dawson
(Hazel) Craig of Auburn,
Mrs. William (Myrtle)
Stirling of Goderich and Mrs.
Duncan (Jean) Murchison of
Mississauga; one brother,
Mel of Colborne Township;
two stepsisters, Mrs. Stanley
(Gertie) Snider and Mrs.
Worthy (Adelaide) Young,
both of Goderich; one
stepbrother, Charles

A funeral service was held
at McCallum Funeral Home
in Goderich on Friday, May 7
at 2 p.m. The Reverend John
D.M. Wood officiated.
Interment was in Colborne
Cemetery, Colborne
Township.
Pallbearers were Charles
Mathers, Bob Jewell, Ver-
dun Vanstone, Bill Treble,
Frank McMichael and Alvin
Proctor.
Flower bearers were John
White, Don Kirkconnell, Ron
Kirkconnell, Greg Kirk-
connell, Dale Good and
Larry Good, all grandsons of
the late Mr. Good.

MUGFORD
Mrs. Ina May Mugford of
Goderich died in Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital
on Saturday, May 1 at the
age of 85.
She was born in Goderich
on March 12, 1897 to Robert
and Margaret (Bruce) Muir.
She was a member of Knox
Presbyterian Church,
Goderich.
She is survived by her
husband, William Mugford;
two daughters, Mrs. Helen
Ferguson of London and
Mrs. Gordon (Lois) McCabe
of Goderich; and one
grandson, Bill McCabe.
She was predeceased by
two sisters and two brothers.
A funeral service was held
at McCallum Funeral Home
in Goderich on Monday, May
3 at 2 p.m. The Reverend
G.L. Royal officiated.
Interment was in the
Colborne Cemetery,
Colborne Township.
Pallbearers were Gordon
McCabe, Bill McCabe, Roy
Mugford, Doug Orr, Ken
Grigg and Chris Herlufsen.

BISSETT
Mrs. Ella May Bissett of
Seaforth Manor died in
Seaforth Manor on Wed-
nesday, May 5 at the age of
95.
She was born in Goderich
on September 17, 1886 to
William H. and Mary Jane
(Chambers) Moore.

Goderich Rebekah Lodge no.
89 since February of 1:
She was a member of Knox
Presbyterian Church in
Goderich and the ..WMS of
that ' church, working for
many years with the Home
Helpers.
She was predeceased by
her husband, Constance L.
Bissett and one son, Phil.
She is survived by her
daughter-in-law, Mrs.
Audrey Bissett of Goderich;
one sister, Mrs. Jack (Mary)
Sieber of Goderich; eight
grandchildren; and 10 great
grandchildren.
A private family funeral
service was held at the
McCallum Funeral Home in
Goderich on Friday mor-
ning, May 7. The Reverend
G.L. Royal officiated.
Interment was., in the
Maitland Cemetery,
Goderich.
Pallbearers were Telford
Bissett, Robert Bissett,
Michael Bissett and Patrick
Bissett, all grandsons of
Mrs. Bissett.

William James Thomas of
530 Flamingo Drive, Sarnia,
died at Sarnia General
Hospital on Tuesday, May 4
at the age of 68.
He was born in Goderich
but had been_a resident of the
Sarnia area for most of his
life. He was a Captain with
Imperial Oil Marine
Department with some 41
years of service, retiring in
1972.
He was a member of
Canon Davis Memorial
Anglican Church and a
member of Liberty Lodge
no. 419 A.F. and A.M.
He is survived by his wife,
the former Nina Bruce; two
daughters, Mrs. Paul
(Margaret Sharon) Johnston
of Oakville and Mrs. John
(Heather Bruce) Brennan of
Sarnia; four grandchildren,
Nina, Amy, Sean and. Kate;
and three sisters, Mrs. John
(Marie) Shaw of Goderich,
Mrs. Franklin (Bette) Heard
of London and Mrs. George
(Helen) Cardwell of Sarnia.
Funeral and committal
service was held at the
Stewart Funeral Home in
Sande on Thursday, May 6
with Canon W.A. Jones of-
ficiating.
Cremation followed in

She is also survived by 11
grandchildren and 10 great
grandchildren and her two
sisters Marie (Mrs. Ernest
Rouse) of Norwich and
Donna (Mrs. John Paterson)
of Seaforth.
She was a member of the
North Caaradoc Presbyterian
Church, Eastern Star Lodge
(Veritas Chapter) and the
Lady Howard Rebekah
Lodge. She was also an
original member of Branch
No. 183 Ladies Auxiliary
Kincardine.
The funeral and committal
were held Wednesday, May 5
from the Elliot Funeral
Home, Strathroy, with the
Rev. Charles Middleton of
the North Curadoc
Presbyterian Church of-
ficiating.

HERBERT'' GLOUSHER
Herbert Glousher died
suddenly at the Rammeloo
Guest Home on Saturday,
May 1 in his 79th year.
He was born in Hullett
Township on January 27,
1904 to the late John and
Margaret (Daer) Glousher
and was the youngest and
Last surviving member of the
family. He was a life long
resident of Hullett Township
and was well known for his
cider snaking each fall and
for his machine shop work
which . he gave up only
recently due .,to health
problems.
He married the former
Mae Creighton on December
16, 1925. She survives him.
Also surviving is one
daughter, Mrs. Keith (Jean)
Good of R.R. 1 Auburn; three
sons, James of Auburn,
Donald of Blyth and Kenneth
of Goderich; 21 grand-
children; a number of great-
grandchildren and nieces
and nephews; and one sister-
in=law; _Mrs:John (-Sophia)
Glousher of Goderich.
He was predeceased by
one son, Robert in January
of 1980.
A funeral service for the
late Mr. Glousher was held
Monday, May 3 at 2 p.m. at
the Tasker Funeral Home in
Blyth. The Reverend Wayne
Good officiated.
Interment was in Blyth
Union Cemetery.
Pallbearers were
nephews, John Norman,
Jack Glousher, Bill Glousher
and Lloyd Glousher and
>neighbours, Major
Youngblut and John Nonkes.
Flower bearers were
Gordon Howatt and Ross.

MRS. MINNY KUDOB
Mrs. Minny Kudob of R.R.
6 Goderich, formerly of
Stratford, died in Huronview
on Sunday, May 2 at the age
of 90.
She was born in Southeast
Hope Township to John and
Minna (Meideman)
Wilhelm. .
She . was predeceased by
her husband, Fred Kudob, in
1957. She was also
predeceased by one son,
Allan Dickson and_ one
stepson, John Kudob.
She is survived by one
daughter, Mrs. Robert
(Eileen) Skirton of R.R. 6
Goderich; two daughter -in-
laws, Lois Filsinger of
Ayton, Ontario and Dora
Kudob of Stratford; one
brother, Karl Wilhelm of
R.R. 2 Tavistock; two
sisters, Mrs. Ida King of
Stratford and Mrs. Rose
Kells of Mitchell; seven
grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held
at the Heimbuck Funeral
Home, 156 Albert Street,
Stratford, on Wednesday,
May 5 at 1:30 p.m.
Interment was in the
Avondale ' Cemetery,
Stratford.
