To organize
roller
hockey
The Goderich Recreation
Department 4 hoping to
organize teams for roller
hockey for ages 12 to 18. Ac-
cording to Program Coor-
dinator, Bob Marshall the
hockey will be run if there
are enough people interested
'n participating.
"A, few people have signed
up but we need a lot more.
We will start as soon as we
get enough kids for the
teams," Marshall said.
Volunteer coaches are also
needed. If anyone is in-
terested °in participating in
roller hockey they can con-
tact the recreation office at
524-2125.
To start.
gym club
The Recreation Depart-
ment will also be starting a
gymnastics course on May 3.
The course which was not of-
fered during the winter
because. of staffing pro-
blem, will run for the full
month.
Registration forms are
available at the recreation
office at 166 McDonald
Street. the registration fee is
$15.
Kite contest
planned
Bob Marshall is hoping to
organize a kite flying contest
on May 8: There _will be
prizes foto the winners • in dif-
ferent categories. Additional
information will be sent to
the schools shortly.
Oldtimers
soccer
tomorrow.
The Goderich Oltimers
soccer team will be playing
an exibition match at the
Goderich Community Centre
on Thursday, April' 22, at
7:00 p.m.
Chess finals
continue
The Level l finals between
Louts Stadtilinani. Jotu
George are very close - the
first match is still underway
after four hours of play, with
no clear advantage for either
opponent.
Level was won by Walter
Gottschalk who played two
tough` games - against Jim
Kingsley.
Phil Abbott: made no
mistakes and . defeated
Pierre Chagnonin their best
of three game series, and
thereby won Level 3.

Brindley, three new club
members who haverespec-
tively won Levels 2, 3 and 4.

series is from a 22 game ex-
hibition by the Great
Pillsbury (who was blind-
folded during the competi-
tion). Black to move and
mate in. three moves. Solu-

Bridge
scores
On Tuesday, April 13 the
Goderich Bridge Club held a
charity game with eight
tables in play for a Mitchell
game with an average score
of 84.
The members donated $125
to the charity for this year,
The Canadian Kidney Foun-
dation.
Placing first in North-
South and first overall with
101% points were Helen
Tench and John Wood; se-
cond overall with 100 were
Mary Donnelly and 'Eleanor
Erskine; and third were
Jean Cook and Verna Wor-
thy.
In East-West, Vic Alex-
ander and P. K. Venki were
first with 95; second,
Theresa Donatis and Arlene
Gibbons with 941/2; and third,
Nuala Conlon and Kay Dun-
can with 84'2.
April 27 will be the Presi-
dent's Cup night when
players.are asked to switch
partners.
