The building permit§ were issued to Triple,D.J. (F. De Jong) to build a machine shed on lot 12, base line; to Frank Yeo to demolish a barn on lot 29, concession 11; and to Joe Potter to demolish a house. .on.lot 33,. concession 15. The tile drain loans were approved for William Jongejan for $10,025 on 1ot25, concession 1; for Peter Vandriel for $10,025 on 1ot18, concession 6; for William Klomps for $.5,025 on lot 38, concession 7;, and for Frank Yeo Jr. for $15,025 for lot 29,' concession 11. These :loans are all subject to fundsbeing available. Accounts totalling over $70,000 were presented and ordered paid by council. These 'accounts included $41,941 for .Huron County Board of Education taxes. - By -law no. 5, 1982, a by-law ;Slides of Yukon shown to designate the Telephone Road as a .restricted • load limit road, was given three readings and passed, by council. Mrs. Pat Rivett was present at the council meeting to explain a. project which she and her husband hope to take on as a part\of the township's . 1985 celebrations. It is a project to collect pictures of 'former township reeves and officials and have thein suitably framed. Council passed a motion . that the Rivetts be given full co-operation and encouragement in 'the in- teresting project.. . One tender was received for the lakeside lot recently. advertised for sale in, the township.. Council . was concerned that the tender was. too low and before ac- , cepting it, there will be an on-site inspection of the lot. Melle Van der Wal was present at the meeting to complain that a municipal drain was lowering the water level in his well. Council referred this matter to Bartlett and Associates, the drainage engineers. Spring flowers decorated • the parlour of Knox Presbyterian Church for the March meeting of the Arthur Circle. President Grace Cameron welcomed guests following the opening, prayer and a sing -song led by Betty Coulte • Huron County Planning Department requested approval from the township to hire a summer student to assist in the zoning by-law. Council gave its approval of this and agreed to assume its share of the wages involved. The •Maitland Valley Conservation Authority asked approval of their plan to hire students for summer projects. Council gave its approval provided that there will be no additional cost above the ' budget levy already presented. Rosemarie Evans was present at the meeting to show slides taken at the Lady Diana Nursery School at Vanastra where 10 area children aged two to 10, are given training each weekday morning for 10 months of the year. The children' are all considered as having, delayed development. One is from Goderich Township.. Council passed a motion agreeing to support one child at the school, as requested, by making a payment of $125 each half year. Council then adjourned until Aprils at 8 p.m. r. I-`1 Minutes were- read by Dorothy Reed and the treasurer's report was given by Hazel McCreath. Preparations are being made for the 70th an- niversary of the Arthur Circle to be held October 19 in the form of a banquet. Former memberswill be invited. Lucy Johnston and her group led in the devotional time. The theme was on 'Love' taken from I Cor. 13. Poems were read by Betty Fisher and the prayer was given by Lee McCallum and Dorothy Reed. The hymn, •'0 Love That Will Not Let Me Go" was sung as a fitting conclusion to the' devotional service\ Lucy introduced Bernice Mcllwain who showed slides of her recent trip to Alas ' and the Yukon. The mem- bers enjoyed this presen- tation which included a few main places as well as many agricultural areas. To coticlude the evening, Lucy read a story about St. Patrick and finished with an Irish blessing. Lunch was then served. The next meeting will be the Easter Thankaffering to be h held April 19.
