BY JACK RIDDELL,
The Minister of Health,
Dennis TimbreII, has an-

changes aimed at helping
hospitals wipe out their
annual deficits, which this
year readied $100 minim

Some public ward space,
now set at 50 percent of a
hospital's bed, to private or
seimi-private use.
Previously, revenue from
this type of accommodation

Liberal Leader Stuart
Smith's reaction to the

being systematically
iismantled". Hospitals "are
now being told to declare
more of their beds as private

are waiting for an operation,
you'll be tot& look, we can't
accommodate you in the
standard ward, but if you
would come ia as semi-
private, we just might get
you in a little sooniee. The
gy way the hospitals can
sizMve now, according to
the government, is to gouge
people who want semi-

"matter of urgent public
importance, namely the
imposition of two -class
health care in Ontario an-

Lelislature by the Minister
of Health whereby sup-
