Thank yin As you are proabably aware, we have had problems with head lice this school year. You are probably wondering what you can do to protect your children - Here are two suggestions: 1. Check your children daily: Use a good light to check for head lice and nits - strong natural light is the best or a strong fluorescent lig& The eggs or nits are whitish, oval shaped and are usuany located behind the ears or across the back of the neck - nits stick to the hair strand. It cannot be flicked off as can dandruff. If you , find nits or a live head louse - TREAT ininediately. TREATMENT: 1. Soak the Head in pure vinegar for ten minutes. This is to soften the shell of the mut 2. Apply Para -Lice or Kwellada solutions which can be bought at the drug store. Follow directions on the battle very carefully. To avoid possible reinfestation, treatment has to be thorough and repeated in 4 to 5 days. Each nit must be removed from the hair by palling the egg down the entire length of the hair shaft. All nits must be removed otherwise self retrifedation can occur. 2. The Christmas holidays are not far off. The holidays are a tirne of travel and visiting. Be especially vigilant at this time that your children do notcadract head lice. In the New Year we will be back to check all schools. Be sure that your child returns to school in the New Year clear of head lice or nits. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me at the following number 482-3416.
