Thursday, December 10 at
the Colborne Township Hall.
The Christmas atmosphere
was prevalent with over 30
members and guests and the
441 leaders present.
President, Mrs. R.
Buchanan, opened the
welcoming all Who
then joined in the g
Ode, Mary Stewart Collect
and the Women's Institute
Grana with Mrs. G. Kaitting
at the Piano.
The smorgasbord and
dessert tables were laden
with very appetizing food
and after all had enjoyed the
delicious meal, a short
business session was, held
starting with the roll call,
"What does Christmas mean
to you", which brought forth
various answers of love,
friendship, the birth of
Christ, the Christmas
message of goodwill to men
and the Christmas carols we
all love to hear with several
appropriate poems.
Members who brought a
guest, introduced them and
presented them with a gift.
The 4 -Meader, Linda Bisset,
thanked the Institute for
sponsoring them and for the
invitation to this Christmas
party . and for the co-
operation for their 441,
Minutes of last, meeting
were read by the secretary,
Mrs. Allan Stoll and in the
correspondence, a thank yon
was received from . "Leader
Dogs for the Blind".
A letter was read to be sent
to the Reeve of Ashfield,
Warren Zinn, voicing sup-
port against chemical waste
dumping m the district.
Members agreed to send a
donation at this time to the
Salvation Army.
Mrs, Doug McNeil, who
was in charge of the pro-
gram for the party, then took
charge introducing the guest
speaker, Mr. George Cowan
and his wife, and Mrs,
Harold Elliott and daughter
Helen Elliott who were pro-
viding, lmrsic. Mr. Cowan
gave a Very .iritoresting and
timely Christmas message
on God's love and made the
challenge for us to reach out
in love to each other, not only
at Christmas but always,

What wonderful results
would be achieved in this
wide world if men and
women everywhere would
practise the message of the
angels' song, "Peace on Ear-
th, Goodwill to Men". Mr.
Cowan then led in communl.
ty singing, with Mrs. Harold
Elliott at the piano, of many
humorous songs and
Christmas carols which.
were much appreciated.
Helen Elliott delighted all
with her two solos,
"Christmas in Killarney"
and "Silent Night"
The President thanked Mr.
Cowan for his message and
for the community singing
and Mrs. Elliott and
daughter Helen for the love-
ly solos and also Mrs.
McNeil for providing the
program numbers. The
hearty applause showed ap-
preciation and gifts were
presented.
Mrs, O. Falkiner then gave
a splendid motto, "MI the
world is young at.
Christmas."
The members then en-
joyed the exchange of gifts
and the meeting closed with
O Canada, after which
several members viewed the
4-H books for the last project
which were very interesting
and well done,

Achievement Day for the
4-11 Project, "Which came
first, the chicken or the
egg", was held at Auburn
Community Hall on Monday,
November 30. There was a
splendid crowd and Tiger
Dunlop 4H group had an ex-
hibit
xhibit of a collection of egg
gadgets and cooking equip-
ment for the egg specialist
with Margaret Vanderlinde
and Margaret Schoemaker
as commentators.
The members and tate
leaders, Linda Bisset and
Ruth Ann !Strickler, all
received silver spoons for
doing the project and two
members of the group,
Margaret Vanderlinde and
Margaret Schoemaker,

Colborne Recreation Com-
mittee met in the ,Colborne
Township Hall, Wednesday,
December 9 at 8 p.m.
Leonard Fisher, who has
been president of this com-
mittee for tha past three
years and wished to be
relieved of this office, relin-
quished his office to William
Vanstone who was appointed
by Colborne Council.
Mr. Vanstone opened the
meeting and the secretary,
Mrs. Reg Riehl read the
minutes of the last two
meetings.
Final plans were made to
hold the Euchre card parties
again this year in the Col-
borne Township Hall every
second and fourth Thursday
of the month commencing
January 14 with Mr. and
Mrs. Leonard Fisher and
Mr, and Mrs. Reg Riehl in

Mrs. Wood led in carol sing-
ing
inging for a few numbers and
then all enjoyed the filum,
"The Little Lost Angel" and
a few more Christmas carols
before Santa Claus appeared
