Johnstone of Goderich died in Victoria Hospital, London on Tuesday, December s. She was barn in Goderich to James and Kathleen (Sullivan) Phalen of Ashfield Township. She wasa fife long resident of Goderich and worked as a hairdresser, operating Verna's Beauty Salon here. She was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 109 Ladies' Auxiliary; St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church; and the Catholic Women's League. She is survived by her husband, Eric C. Johnstone and one brother, Harry Phalen of Dunchurch, Ontario. A funeral mass was add at St. Per's Roman Catholic Church in Goderich on Friday, Deceonber 11 at 11 a.m. The Reverend Father AF. Loeh®chofficiated. Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery, Colborne Township. Pallbearers were Bill Lawson, Walter Sheardown, Joe O'Brien, Byron Jaques, Roy Mugford and Willard Legg. Prayers were held at the McCallum Funeral Home in Goderich on Thursday evening, December 10. He was a retired sailor. He was born in Detroit, Miichiin on July 7, 1917 to James and Margaret (Stapleton) Black. During World War II, he served as Private A4394 with the R.C.Rs in Canada, Britain, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. He was an adherent of St. George's Anglican Church in Goderich. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Herman (Margaret) Chamney of Windsor. A funeral service and committal were held at Stiles . Funeral Home in Goderich on Tuesday, December 15at8p.m.The Reverend Robert Crocker officiated. Interment was in Dungannon Cemetery. MRS. MARY JOHNSTON Mrs. Mary Johnston of Goderich died in Maitland Manor on Saturday, December 12at the age of E. She was born in Aubun on March 2A, 1894 to John and of Auburn. She lived in bolli Auburn and Goderich and was a member of the First Baptist Marcie She married Stanley Johnston on May 10, 1917 in Auburn. He predeceased her.
