Ashfield eligible
for Wintario
The Township of Ashfield has received notice that
two separate projects will be eligible for Wintario
capital grants in 1982.
The grants, part of more than 75 totalling 3425
million in the southwestern Ontario region including
the countries of Huron, Grey and Bruce, were an-
notmeed in the Legislature Friday.
On a Provincial scale, Culture and Recreation
Minister Reuben Baetz announced that over 600
grants had been approved totalling 840 million.
The Township of Ashfield had one grant approved
for the construction of a creative playground A se-
cond capital grant will help to defray the cost of con-
struction of washrooms at Ashfield Park.
While the capital grants have been given approval
payments to the municipality will not begin until
April 1, 1982. The program announced by the minister
January 25, 1951 provides grants on a basis of one
dollar for every,two dollats raised by the community.
Details of the total grants made to the municipality
will be released by the ministry before the end of
December.

The Woolworth's store on The Square was broken
into some time late Saturday night or early Sunday
morning via the rear door. A safe was moved to the
rear of the store and an attempt was nude to open it

vestigation by Goderich police at this time.
From December 7 to December 13, load police also
