The goals were scored by Richard Bowman assisted by Jeff Hodges; Gregg De Winter asalsted by Greg Alcock and Andre Cauchi; Alcock assited by Boyce; and Alcock assisted by De Winter. Unfortunately, the Parkhill team was able to come back and score three goals to tie things up as the Goderlch team seemed to tire out. This was a repeat of two weeks ago when Goderich came back from a 6-2 , deficit to tie Parkhill 6.6. On Saturday, the Goderich team played on home ice and handily defeated the Ilderton Atoms 144. (Photo by Joanne Buchanan) AM & G team alone in first place After the first month of competition, only a single team remains undefeated and in sole possession of first place.. The AM&G `G.C.s' are that team. A big part of that team's success is Phil Turner. Mr. Turner or Sir as most people "call him provides the G.C.s with excellent sweeping, shot -making and leadership, and as vice -skip, pairs perfectly with 'Mr. Big' RonKieges. Turner's talent was evident again last week as he helped the hospital foursome ,demolish the Elementary Teachers 12-2. Bursts edge Foresters While it is lonely at the top it is cozily crowded in second place as five fine teams share this honor. Durst Builders lave fought hard to eau this rating. After dropping , their fust match of the year to the GDCI Teachers, the mother and son; bighead and wife combination of this team have been on a winning streak. None of the victories was more im- pressive than their last one as they edged the Foresters 4-3. As the low score would indicate, there were very fewmissed shots in this exciting contest as the Dusts and the Bells 'kept the pressure on the Foresters all through the contest - In lining fashion, the outcome rested on the final shot of the contest. Cam Bogie's Forester unit had the winning rocks well hidden on the final end this forcing Tun Bell to draw tothe eight foot circle, Bell's final shot wicked off a front guard and slid majestically into the necessary white area for the victory. Mr. Bogie was able to take some solace for this last shot defeat by remembering the old saying, • `Imitation is the highest form of flattery.' Vikings beat Ladies The Lady Foresters fell victim to another streaking team as they dropped a 95 decision to the GDCI Vilm' ngs. This contest was tied at five after five with both teams displaying fine skill. Dave Brissette and Diane Bogie were particularly sharp for the students while Vicki Culbert and Phyllis Fisher were the leaders of the Forester effort. The final. three ends went to the young Vikings as superior conditioning and clean living won the . Golfers humiliate Office The Industrial League's other female foursome fared better as the Maitland Golfers held on to their share of second place by defeating the Champion Sales Office 112. The domineering ladies tonally con- trolled the game as Lynn Todgham, Penny Peters, Kay Di can, and Sue White took tarns making the big shot. To avoid bruising any male egos, the names of the Salesmen as this meeting will be stricken from the official record. Silver Brooms lose too Eleven points were also scared on the Champion Silver Brooms and the factthey they scored twice as many points as their cohorts in the sales department did little to ease the pain of defeat. The talented AM&G Hospital crew left little doubt that they deserve a piece of second place also as they administered the 114 outcome to their opponents. Strong performances by Craig Cass and Richard Ottewell prevented the Silver Brooms from shining. KeAough nearly flawless Local 1863 recorded their third win of the young season 11-2 over Victoria & Grey. Obviously smarting from their defeat last week by the Huron Health Unit, the skillful union reps rarely allowed their opposition a chance to record points. Most nasty was skip Jack Kellough who curled an almost flawless game for bis team. Maniacs even record Last week the Huron Health Unit was the upseters, this week they were the up- setees. The &rftoSlatManiacs evened their season's record with an impressive 5-3 triumph over the healthy unit. John Orr was the bright spot for the Health Uri while Michael Barre stood out for the miners. It was the sparkling per - Polaroid Gift Centre formance of Jerry Riseborough that made the difference as he wicked, raised and ricocheted his way to victory. Jerry's stunning performance had op- posing skip Jack MacKinnon convinced that Jerry has been attending Cam Bogie's world famous 'ferhln" er'schoot Teachers play grudge match This week's grudge match pitted the two GDCI Teacher teams against one another. The often maligned Teacher No.1 ' team wanted desperately to hold onto their No.1 rating while the second GDCI team felt they had earned this title after an ex- tremely ztrenely successful season last year. Through a skillful manipulation of the sdbedde by the league's co-ordinnator, teacher skip Dave .Cloetwas unable totake pert in this battle since his wife was within hours of giving birth to another little Clod. The short-handed Not team fell behind by five in the early ends but ° defused to quit. Despite a painful back injury, skip BMD Garrow navigated his team back within sight of victory with a three ender in the fifth and barring a superb double take- out by his science department colleague Doug Bundy in the seventh. The 8-4 outcome could have been olif ferent, Special marks must go to Chris Conor, Shelley Warr and George Sutton who all wed remarkable balance and grace throughout this contest for the number one ranking.
