Elsie's efforts appreciated
There was a presentation
made to Mrs. Elsie Hen-
derson at Huronview's
Sunday morning service
recently by Sarah Carter and
Margaret McQueen. The
presentation was given to
Elsie in appreciation for the
number of years that she had
played throughout the
building • and at the Sunday
services. Another presen-
tation was made to Rev.
Wittick for needy children
and families.
The Lakeview Mennonites
toured Huronview on Sunday
afternoon singing, while on
Sunday evening a hymn sing
was held.
Music appreciation was
held on Monday afternoon,
when small children added
to the program presented by
Brenda Huizinga from
Auburn and M. Morrison
from Blyth. The Christmas
story was told very ef-
fectively with their small
children acting out the roles.
It was thoroughly enjoyed by
the Over 90 Cub.

Foundry to
shut down
WINGHAM - The Wingham
Foundry Company Ltd., has
announced plans for a two-
week shutdown over the
Christmas holidays this
year.
The shutdown, which will
idle most of the foundry's
staff of about 180, is a t-
trlituted to the economic
decline affecting the com-
pany's majorcustomers.
President Richard LeVan
explained, "Most of the
plant's customers in the
diesel engine and the
passenger car business have
inventory shutdowns
because their sales are off."
He described it as a
volatile situation, which
changes every day as
customer demand changes.
In addition, the foundry
also announced several
temporary layoffs, one last
week affecting seven people
and another planned this
week.
Mr. Levan reported that
the company had looked at
closing down the foundry for
three weeks, but was able to
cut it back to two.
