Richard Buchanan ap-
peared before council to ex-
press his concern .about
possible traffic problems be-
ing caused by patrons of the
unset Golf Course driving
e on the north side of the
township road running
between the golf course pro-
per and the driving range.
Buchanan fears that because
of the large entranceway to
the driving range, people
will park on the road
shoulder and interfere with
road traffic. Council told him
that they definitely will not
allow parking on any part of
the road allowance at that
point and would post the
area as a "tow -away zone"
and would enforce it.
Buchanan said he would be
satisfied with this if it work-
ed.
Elaine Brown appeared
before council and requested
approval for a crafts
business to be operated by
her from her home on Part
Lot 8, Concession 8 ED.
Council gave approval sub-
ject to recommendations of
the Huron County planning
director.
A resolution circulated by
the Township of Greenock,
County of Bruce, supporting
the use of nuclear energy for
power development and ex-
port was supported by a
resolution by council.
A $15 grant requested of all
municipalities by the Huron
Day Care Centre for the
Homebound was agreed to.
The grant will help cover an
estimated cost of $3,500 to
$4,000 for publication of a
guidebook, "Access to
Public Buildings Guide", for
the disabled.
A request for a municipal
drainage works for proper-
ties on Concession 10 WD,
which had been earlier re-
quested by property owners,
is now to proceed under an
engineer's report and a peti-
tion for covering -a portion of
the Borland Drain on Con-
cession 12 WD was accepted
and will be auctioned under
Section 78, the Drainage Act.
Council passed by-law 22-
1981 appointing Hudson
Milburn as lottery licensing
officer for the Township of
Colborne.
The meeting was adjourn-
ed to the next scheduled
regular meeting to be held
on Tuesday, December 1.
On November 19, council
met in special meeting at the
request of Reeve William K.
Bogie, to consider the pass-
ing of a by-law to permit the
increase of the interest
charged on tax arrears
under the provisions of The
Municipal Interest and Dis-
count Rates Act, 1981. Accor-
dingly, by-law 23-1981 was in-
troduced and duly passed.
The by-law will allow the
township to add interest at
the rate of 19.5 percent per
annum, or 1.625 percent per
month, on tax arrears. Tax
arrears are taxes that are
due and unpaid after
December 31 of the year in
which they are levied.
