At its regular meeting Thursday night,

the Goderich Sailors a 6040 split in gate
receipts to help the struggling Inter
Jdiate C team.
ohn Doherty, speaking as president of
the hockey club, told the board that the
Sailors are in danger of folding if finances
don't improve. "We are in the process of
rebuilding a team and it seems that when
we lose, we don't get the crowds. Hopefully
after Christmas the gates will pick up,"
Doherty said.
"In 1972 and 73 we filled this place. It
was jammed. I know the records don't
show it for the past four years, but I'm
sure over the long run we've made money
for thearena," he continued.
Board member Jim McDade asked
Doherty if the Sailors run any promotion
nights. Doherty answered that there was
occasionally a bar, and various draws.
Member Jim Searis moved that the
arena and Sailors keep the 6040 split
arrangement until the end of the season.

point that the demand for diamonds is so
great they are willing to develop a site if
the rec board provides them with one.
Mayor Harry Worsell and board
member Jim. Searis both stated that they
had seen diamonds not in use on Saturdays
and Sundays. "We've got to make full use
of the facilities w ;l pe.. q(e, just ca't be.
building new ones without fully using what

need another area." Members suggested
that director Jane Netzke contact the

Rental policy set
The Goderich Recreation Board has
worked out a policy regarding the rental of
the gymnasium and kitchen facilities of
the new mind -community centre on

The schedule of fees for rental is divided
into three groups. Activities sponsored by
the recreation department, local schools,
community health associations, regular
meetings of scouts, cubs, guides etc.,
lectures and assemblies that do not
require admission charges or collections,
and municipal elections are exempt from
rental.
Group B includes non-public dances
sponsored by teenage clubs, adult activity
groups sponsored by other than the rec
department, athletic groups and leagues,
functions sponsored by service clubs and
other non-profit groups where admission
charge is used to defray expenses and for
charitable work in the community receive
a preferred rate of $6 per hour.
The commercial rate of $10 per hour is
charged W groups using the facilities for a
profit basis.

not like the idea of charging any rental for
the building. "We got the building for
nothing and ti's for everybody to use."

schedule to help maintain the building..
"It's .the department's first experience
with something like this," said director
