How about THAT? Ben is about 52, so many of you will know him - but with eight boys in the family, many of you will say, "I know the boys but which one was "Ben"?. There is a small item in this week's paper about this goodelooking, young - he's still a YOUNG man, so you can read all about his ap- pointment and his years of hard work. His mother and dad I know, are real proud of him. I hope you enjoyed the Santa Claus parade and did you take the kids to MacKay Hall to see The Court of the Emerald King? Everyone seemed to enjoy this play on Sunday. The house was full to overflowing. The story. was taken partly from old folktales - some of which I hadn't heard - and Warren Robinson made up the rest of the story. The little song was written by Eleanor Robinson and that clever singer of songs, Del Almeida. The presentation was just beautiful. The humming and hawing of old FIZZLEWIT was dragged a bit but the way everyone took part in the playing -out of the stories that were being told was also different and enjoyable. The play was written for children from four to 84 and I'm sure we all were happy 'with the whole performance. I'm not happy with the London Free Press fellow who tore it to pieces. Perhaps some day he will direct. or work in a play and we can do the critique. Heaven help him! Round 'rte' About with Martha R8lhburn Well, now, somehow a lit- tle plastic container holding about a teaspoonful of vinegar has caught my, eye. Did you ever stop and • wonder how in the devil they got the vinegar inside that thing? The Christmas parties are starting. I DO miss them, you know, but I guess I had my share of them in years past and enjoyed them. So have a good time. Try to help the kids who need it, too. I see Vanastra has a "pay as you play" curling club. That should help if you can't join a club with ciuonouse privileges, and all the things that a member expects. Curling - what a great game. If you haven't played, you should go and watch the game. It will soon get to you - and it isn't so cold out there as it looks. Enjoy these things while you are able. The time goes so quickly ! December 9 is Senior Citizens Card Night at MacKay Centre. If you enjoy cards, you'll enjoy the com- pany. So, they are giving us a chance to send our Christmas cards for the 15 cent rate. January 1 the new rate of 30 cents starts. How about THAT? I know most of us would like to rebel against it - but what else is new? Prices are jumping like crazy. With all the strikes for more, more and more pay ,to hike up the cost of EVERYTHING, it is hard to figure out how the mess got started or who is going to make them see what is hap- pening with their greed. The workers can't be blamed en- tirely. It haS to be the pro- moters and how do you pin down THOSE guys? Well, just keep up your courage and your smile and hope for a break — SOON!
