"They will know early if their communi- ty is anywhere near a site," Norton said in an inter- view late last week, but he wouldn't be more specific. Last week, the Ontario Waste Management Corp. abandoned South Cayuga as the proposed site of a li- quid waste treatment and disposal facility and laun- ched the search for a new site. A study conducted last year rated Ashfield Township in Huron County as the best site in Ontario, with a site east of Port Elgin close behind and a site in Centralia far down the list. The corporation will review the criteria on which that study was based. Norton would not speculate on when the status of the 17 sites identified last year and anv possible new, IT'S WORTH THE DRIVE! •SUITS •SPORTSCOATS •BLAZERS SIZES 38 TO 48 • REG • TALL • SHORT Available at.... 34 ALBEr T. However, he urged anyone liv- ing in an area identified by the new search to take a reasonable approach. Both MPP Murray Elston (L -Huron-Bruce) and MPP Jack Riddell (L -Huron-Middlesex) have reported concern from their residents who are prepared to form citizens' organizations to fight any possible location of a facility in their arOas. "We'll be ready," Riddell said in an interview. He felt that the current search would establish new criteria for a liquid waste site that would take his riding off the target list. Norton said that Riddell has seen the proposed technology at work in Europe and hoped he would en- courage his riding to be reasonable if it becomes in- volved. "I hope Jack and Murray will not unthinking- ly contribute to generating a level of concern." Board of Directorse named at MacKay Seniors annual meeting MacKay Centre for Seniors held its annual meeting on November 25. In reviewing the reports of the standing committees, they all show how active MacKay Centre has been. In January 1979 a steering committee was appointed and, at a kick- off party, Mayor Worsell turned the key to MacKay Hall over to Chairman Everett Sparling. Commit- tees were formed to have renovations made with Jim Magee to draw up the plans. With grants from New Horizons and Wintario, the efforts of the fund-raising committee of Harold Bettger and Bill Ross, and the generosity of clubs, organizations and individual donations, the necessary money was raised to have this work completed. In naming the building, the committee wanted to retain the name MacKay as Mr. CLINT N BONED MAT 17 ALBERT STREET, CLINTON (main street) WE HAVE FRESH AND FROZEN MEATS, IN CASE LOTS VARYING IN SIZE FROM 2 TO 12 POUNDS 4 Specials while supplies last OWN CLUB $ '15 Ieef Burgers • • LB. /11ILR.BOX TREASURE ISLAND 3.83Le./2Lox Breaded Shrimp Mates MAPLE LEAF ALL BEEF .ink Sausage $ 66 LB. /112 LB.
