Power plants
Town council opted not to act on a
resolution from the TownshiPf
Greenock asking, the Provincial
Government to explore the possibility of
foreign export of electricity derived from
nuclear power. The resolutions suggests.
that the construction of additional
nuclear power plants be considered for
domestic demand and also for export of
electrical energy, sepecially to the
United States. Township officials argued
that our nuclear systems are the most
productive and efficient in the world and
that the expertise could be expanded.
Greenock Township claims our Hydro
costs could be decreased through the
export of more electricity and that
Ontario could become energy self suf
ficient.
Agreement signed
Council will also enter into an
agreement with the firm of Greer,
Galloway and Associates to develop and
prepare a master plan for the Goderich
Municipal Airport. The cost of the project
is estimated at $12,400. The Ministry of
Transportation and Communication has
granted approval *to proceed with the
master phut study.
