The 131g Four that own a piece of the rock are Local 1863, AM&G 'GCs', GDCI Teachers No.2, and the AM&G Hospital team. Local 1863 downed , the GDCI Teacher No.1 team 126 as union skip Jack Kellough and lead Tom 'You ain't seen nothin yet' Profit curled well above their heads throughout the night: Teacher lead Carl Zlebarth and second 13ill Worsell curled well; unfortunately, it takes four good curlers to win a game and the teacher vice and skip took the night off or so it seemed. Bankers learn lesson . At the other end of the educational and curling spectrum, one will find the mighty and undefeated GDCI Teacher No.2 team. They taught the bankers of Victoria & Grey an elementary lesson in mathematics. Question: If the teachers have 12 points and the bankers have one, who buys the beer? Answer: Bruce Erskine. The teacher juggernaut of the contest was Shelley Warr. She was hot! Lady teams lose There are many ladies in the Industrial League but only two teams made up en- tirely of the 'weaker' sex. Both the Lady Foresters and Maitland Golfers displayed their motherly kindness this night as they both blew big leads and allowed victory to slip away. The Maitland foursorne curled six great ends and as a result led the AM&G `GCs' by three points with only a quarter of the game remaining. It was at this point that superstar Peter Bergin took control of the situation and single-handedly turned the ,tide. Behind Bergin's monumental talent, the GCs rallied with two points in the seventh and two more in the final end to claim the triumph. The excellent consistent curling of Kay Duncan and Penny Peters unavoidably pales in the light of Bergin's superb ability. Hospital skip Jim Rourke waited until the right time to make his appearance and then like the stork, he delivered. The Hospital unit trailed the skillful Lady Foresters by five points before Rourke's overdue arrival but rallied in the late ends to gra h an 11.-10 win. Fine curling by Heather Young (nee Jewell) and Vicki Culbert had provided the comfortable lead but on his last shot of the night Dr. Rourke delvered the perfect shot to take two points and the game. Teachers beat Sales Office Don Budnark is an expert on the stork but he also has a knowledge of curling. His leadership along with clutch performances by Murray Dietrich and Doug Yeo resulted in a 7-4 victory over the Champions Sales Office. Although each team captured four ends, the teacher unit went after the big end and got it. The big end is a Don Budnark trademark. Foresters taste victory While on the subject of big ends, Cam Bogie and the Foresters experienced the taste of victory for the first time this season as they overpowered the Sifto Salt Maniacs 15-5.. Regulars Jamieson Ribey and Jim Hawkins played major roles in the victory. The newcomers had the veteren Foresters worried as Don Scott and Gerry Ringette teams willl, hold a free Clinic this.Suriday from 7-8 for any interested girls. Rlseborough in particular curled well and thegame stayed close for awhile. Experience, however, allowed the champion Foresters to go for the throat in the late ends and they recorded two big ends and the win Dursts edge HHU Durst Builders also claimed their first success of the young season'as they edged the Huron Health Unit 6-5 in a very well played game. Laurie Paquette, all agreed, was the star of the match while Linda Bell had a fine night for the carpenters. Glory is fleeting Last week the Champion Silver Brooms were headliners, but glory is fleeting. The GDCI Vikings brought the Silver Brooms unceremoniously back to the realm of the ordinary with a 12-3 clobbering. Diane Bogie skipped flawlessly and heartlessly as she drove her three male teammates on to victory. Karen Gilchrist refused to break under the pressure and turned in a great game for the once famous Silver Brooms of Champion. Bridge Club scores On Tuesday, November 17, there were eight tables in play for a Goderich Bridge Club Mitchell game. The average score was 70. Arleen Curry and Susan White were first North-South with 78; second, Tom Eadie and Ray Fisher with 75; tied for third with 73 were Jean Cook and Verna Worthy, and Helen Tench and John Wood. Nuala Conlon and Kay Duncan were first East-West with 79; second, Jo Berry and Edna Overholt with 78; and Barb Howe and Marian Lane were third with 73.
