The GDCI junior girls'
basketball team wrapped up
second place in the Huron
Perth Conference standings
last week, finishing off the
schedule with a pair of vic-
tories: 45-41 over Exeter
Wednesday In Exeter and 56-
18 over Clinton here Friday.
The victories leave the Vik-
ings with nine wins and only
one loss in their ten game
schedule.
..Tuesday, the Vikings
played Stratford Central (8-
2) here in sudden -death
semi-final playoffs. First
place, Stratford Nor-
thwestern (10-0) met South
Huron (7-3) in the other
semi-final.
Coach Lynn Meyers saw
his team's victory over Ex-
eter as the Vikings best win
of the season. Exeter led 21-
14 at halftime, but constant
Viking pressure, aided by
solid bench strength finally
took its toll. The Vikings
outscored South Huron 20-4
in the final quarter to win.
Kim Fritzley's 12 points
led the. Vikings. Allison
Graham had six, Nancy
Bugler got five, Cathy(Oke,
Mary Beth Alexander and,
Kristene Stapleton had four
each and Anne Allan chipped
in with three points.
Cathy Verbeek had 13
points for Exeter,
The Central Huron team
ws no match for the Vikings
Friday. Goderich led 26-4 by
halftime and coach Meyers
gave his younger players
plenty of floor time in the se-
condhalf.
Melaine Jeffrey hooped 12
points for Goderich. Angie
Alcock .had 10 points. Mary
Beth Alexander and Kim
Fritzley contributed eight
points apiece. Mary
Margaret Murphy had four
points, as did Kristen

basketball team finished the
Huron Perth Conference
regular schedule last week
with a win and a loss.
Wednesday in Exeter, the
Vikings lost 34-13 to the
undefeated, first place South
Huron team. Friday at ..
home, the Vikings won 58-24
over Clinton.
The Vikings' season
record, seven wins and three
losses puts coach . John
Geiger's team in fourth
place. It also puts them in
the unenviable position of
meeting Exeter again Tues-
day ,in sudden -death semi-.
final. playoffs, in Exeter: The

and Northwestern, met in
the other semi-final.
Maja Gans had 12 points to
lead South Huron last

one point for the Vikings.

to top the Goderich scoring
against Clinton. Tracey
MacEwan had 10. Karyn
Drennan hit for eight points,
