We Sincerely Thank You All. Correspondent travels to Ohio with her son for a week 1 do hope there weren't too many people out there who missed my column in the paper last week. The truth is my son, Jim of Waterloo, and 1 took off for a week to Richfield, Ohio, the Buckeye State, to visit Atlee, Jean and Tricia Wise and Cecil Web- ster. There was so much water lying in the fields. But after a week of good weather we were surprised how much had been taken off in that time. It was a wonderful week with the temperature going up as high as 70 degrees F. One evening Jim, Cecil, Tricia and I attended the Barnaby, Reigling Brother's, Circus. This was held at the Richfield Coliseum. This building will seat about 20,000 people. (It is here that the Cleveland hockey team plays.) They had a wonderful three hour show, the horse back riding, trapeze acts, the gymnastics, there were , ab- out 20 elephants, about eight Siberian tigers and about 10 Polar bears (what monstrous animals they are). It was thoroughly enjoyed. We in all had a wonderful week. Mr. and Mrs. Art Mat- thewman were in Toronto on the October 24th weekend to LOCHALSH NEWS Ka. WMb.t eer, 385451157 attend the annual reunion of the Royal Canadian Drag- , oons at the Westbury Hotel. Ray and Edna MacKenzie of Scarborough visited on the weekend with Ross and Jean MacKenzie. Mrs. Ross Calvert of Sar- nia spent the weekend with her sister and brother-in-law, Ewan and Marj MacLean, then through the week Marj had another sister and niece, Mrs. John Metcalfe and Miss Carol Metcalfe of Petrolia visit with them. Mr. and Mrs. George Moncrief were in London last weekend to help their grand- daughter, Jennifer Ullrich celebrate her birthday. Mrs. Ray Myers°of Ottawa is visiting with her brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Bertha MacKenzie and her mother, Mrs. Neil MacKen- zie in Lucknow. There were a number of callers at the Charles Wilkins home last Sunday. Among them were Laura and Mabel Campbell of Toronto, Jim Leslie Mclnally and boys of Fairy Lake, David and Fran Elphick of Lochalsh, Jack and Tena Verhulst of Strat- ford, Harry and Grace Wilk- ins of Chesley, Herb and Marie Wilkins, Bill Wilkins and Joanne Hakkers, Larry, Janet and Laura Wilkins and Elmer Culbert, all of Ash- field. The Clover Valley 4-H Club had their Hallowe'en. party at the home of Eliza- beth Wilkins. The nine mem- bers invited their mothers and grandmothers to a smor- gasbord supper that the girls themselves had prepared. Congratulations to Brenda Culbert, daughter of Elmer and Edna Culbert, and Mich- ael Lazette of Tiverton, whose marriage is to take place Friday, November 13. It was a great loss to the Pine River Community and also our own community when the Pine River Cheese factory was destroyed by fire a couple of weeks ago. Not only will there not be any more cheese made, but they did sell a lot of their products over the counter at the plant. Lets all hope the sharehold- ers will decide to rebuild the factory. On the weekend Mrs. Dor- othy Finlayson had her daughter and son-in-law of Toronto, Paul and Jane Em- berlin visit. Mrs. Jess Lumley of Woodgreen, Ontario, an aunt of Lorne Luther, passed away recently. Miss Sharon MacNay, daughter of .Mr. and Mrs. Bob MacNay of Amberley, is home now for a couple of weeks from Australia. While here, Sharon will attend the fiftieth wedding anniversary of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ale$ MacNay of Luck - now. Mr. and Mrs. Rod Finlay- son of Sarnia will be uNthis weekend to get the corn harvested on the home farm. Finlay MacDonald has an antique piece of equipment on his farm now. He has purchased a steam engine. This fulfills at least one of his dreams, as he has been inter- estedjin them for a number of years. Family and friends of the prospective groom had a shower in Tiverton for Bren- da Culbert, bride to be, Friday evening. Brenda re- ceived many lovely and use- ful gifts. Congratulations Brenda, may you have many years of happiness. The attractive building houses two classrooms, washrooms, and a gymnasium. Ribbon -cutting, ceremonies will be held Novembe r,17.
