CARROT BREAD
1 cup salad oil
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup shredded carrots
1112 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
'/a cup milk
Mix sugar and salad oil. Add beaten eggs, stir in shredd-
ed carrot.
Sift dry ingredients and add to sugar mixture with milk.
Bake in greased loaf tin 55 minutes at 350 degrees F.
Makes a moist, tasty loaf.

GERMAN BUNS
4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 cup white sugar
2 tsps. cream of tartar
1 cup butter
1 cup lard
1 egg beaten
'/a cup milk
Filling:
1 egg beaten
1 cup brown sugar
'/z cup flour
Sift dry ingredients, work in shortening, blend egg with
milk and add just enough to dry mixture to make soft
dough.
Roll out on a floured board and cover with filling. Roll
up like a jelly roll. Cut into 3/4 inch thick pieces, and put on
a cookie sheet tb bake in a hot oven, 350 degrees - 400
degrees for 15 min.

NO FAIL BREAD AND BUNS
2 cups lukewarm water
1/4 cup lard and 1 tbsp. margarine
Stir this till melted, in a large bowl.
In '/z cup of lukewarm water add 1 tsp. white sugar and
stir. Sprinkle in 2 tbsp. or 1 pkg. of yeast. Don't stir this.
Leave to rise (it doubles).
Meanwhile add 1 cup white sugar to first mixture and 2
tsp. salt.
When yeast has risen, beat and add to mixture in bowl.
Then add 5 cups all-purpose flour. Mix in.
Let rise in a warm place. Knead and let rise again in
bread pans or bun pans.
@Bake at 275-300 degrees F. Buns - 20-30 min. Bread- 3/4 to
1 hour.
This makes 2 loaves bread or approximately 24 buns.
For brown bread use brown bread flour. Recipe can be
halved or doubled.
I never could make bread successfully till finding this
recipe.
