I knew I had one - and was very frustrated but I just couldn't find the time to work on it until I realized that you had to MAKE time for some things. I just went on making excuses, hoping someday I would get started. You can be severely criticized for putting things aside or for duties not completed. BUT - something has to give! If fear of criticism or failure to make the effort to try. a new venture had prevented those GREATS, now • long gone, from TRYING - we might have no music, no art and creativlty, no books - no beauty in our lives. TALENTS are given according to ourabilitiesto work and develop them in order tohelp others. Most of us fear failure and un- certainty or criticism. These things are all part of living. We must learn to COPE. If our attitude and enthusiasm is high, we learn from EVERYTHING - therefore there can be no real failure. Man's privilege to live is always learning but " never • knowing. Along the way we discover life is teaching us many things. Learning is gradual. and - necessitates_ mistakes and ex- perimentation. You learn by DOING. This cannot be rushed or predicted. You are never sure of results - you must have FAITH! No two people - even twins - are exactly alike. Com- parison and competitionis good - provided we don't allow it to hurt us. It should be co-operation and har- mory and excitement that moves us to higher activity. We must not "settle -in" or get too comfortable that it interferes with our good intentions. If you're going to work at your craft, then work at it! If we can cultivate a happy and positive attitude it will help us overcome our moods, our fear of really TRYING, our hesitation to create an at- mosphere in which to develop our talent. We must also learn greater kindness, consideration and patience. To do things well requires devotion and long hours of perseverance. Each talent, to grow, needs dedication and the art of single-mindedness, Then, too, one needs to cultivate QUIET. Needs . to spend a part of each day to relax - fall apart for a while to see beyond the confusion and pressures.. Now, a new strength with new ideas will help to face the challenge of developing that hidden talent or that talent that needs a boost to get going again. WORK at It! Develop your skills - whatever they be - enjoy your creativity. Thank the Lord for your gift - and don't waste it! Keep trying - I'M trying! I'm TRYING! Love, Martha. P.S.
