HOSPITAL
BRIEFS
Auxiliary needs room
Janet Kalbfleisch, representing the
-hospital auxiliary, told the hospital board
that the auxiliary was concerned that too
many groups not associated with the
hospital were using the auxiliary room in
the hospital.
The auxiliary itself uses the room only
one half 'day per month at present and
may be needing it more in the future.
The hospital board agreed to look into
this matter.
Committee formed
The hospital boardapproved the
pro,ppsai that an Accreditation Com-

from the.Board of Governors (in the
persons,,, of the chairman and vice-
chairman), the medical staff and the
hospital staff. This committee will meet
regularly and report to the Medical
Advisory Committee and to the. Board of
Governors.
In the past, the Accreditation Com

new committee will be takingg a stronger
look at suggestions from . the Canadian
Council: on Hospital Accreditation and
.following • through with implementation
over the nezttwo years.
4Hgroup holds.1, ailawe'en dinner
The 4-H group with
leaders, Mrs. Linda Bisset
and Mrs. Ruth Ann Strickler,
finalized . their 441 project
with a Hallowe'en dinner
party at which the parents
and representatives from
Tiger Dunlop Women's In-
stitute were the guests.
Decorations of a lighted
Hallowe'•en pumpkin amid
fall splendour and garden
vegetables greeted the
guests in the entrance hall of
Colborne Township Hall,
Wednesday, October 28 at
7:30 p.m. Hallowe'en colors
in paper streamers on the
tables with yellOw chrysan-
themums in white holders
looked very attractive. To
add to this, the 441 members
and leaders greeted the
guests dressed in Hallowe'en
costumes such as Little Bo -
Peep, a punk rocker, a cat, a
little Dutch girl with wooden
shoes, gypsies, an Indian, a
medical scientist and a
clown. Some just wore
something old or different.
The guests first enjoyed
hors d'oeuvres of cranberry
apple punch, two kinds of
cheese, chicken liver pate,
devilled eggs, scotch eggs
with chutney sauce and
biscuits.
About 30 guests and 4-H
members then sat down to
the attractively decorated
tables. Margaret
Vanderlinde offered a 441.
prayer and • Betty
Schoemaker proposed the.
toast to the. ;mothers and
thanked them for their help

Know the signals
What would you do if so-
meone near you was having
a heart attack?
Most people , sirnply watch
in horror unprepared to
assist. Yet, according to the
Ontario Heart Foundation,
many heart attack victims,
who die each year, before
reaching professional treat-
ment, could be saved
through simple knowledge

and prompt action.
Knowing, the signals of
heart attack and having a
predetermined action plan
are steps every person
should take to be ready in an
emergency.
If the signals persist for
two minutes or more, get the
victim to the nearest
hospital emergency depart-
ment.
