HOSPITAL BRIEFS Auxiliary needs room Janet Kalbfleisch, representing the -hospital auxiliary, told the hospital board that the auxiliary was concerned that too many groups not associated with the hospital were using the auxiliary room in the hospital. The auxiliary itself uses the room only one half 'day per month at present and may be needing it more in the future. The hospital board agreed to look into this matter. Committee formed The hospital boardapproved the pro,ppsai that an Accreditation Com- • mhtteelid formed with representation from the.Board of Governors (in the persons,,, of the chairman and vice- chairman), the medical staff and the hospital staff. This committee will meet regularly and report to the Medical Advisory Committee and to the. Board of Governors. In the past, the Accreditation Com mitten consisted of only three people. The new committee will be takingg a stronger look at suggestions from . the Canadian Council: on Hospital Accreditation and .following • through with implementation over the nezttwo years. 4Hgroup holds.1, ailawe'en dinner The 4-H group with leaders, Mrs. Linda Bisset and Mrs. Ruth Ann Strickler, finalized . their 441 project with a Hallowe'en dinner party at which the parents and representatives from Tiger Dunlop Women's In- stitute were the guests. Decorations of a lighted Hallowe'•en pumpkin amid fall splendour and garden vegetables greeted the guests in the entrance hall of Colborne Township Hall, Wednesday, October 28 at 7:30 p.m. Hallowe'en colors in paper streamers on the tables with yellOw chrysan- themums in white holders looked very attractive. To add to this, the 441 members and leaders greeted the guests dressed in Hallowe'en costumes such as Little Bo - Peep, a punk rocker, a cat, a little Dutch girl with wooden shoes, gypsies, an Indian, a medical scientist and a clown. Some just wore something old or different. The guests first enjoyed hors d'oeuvres of cranberry apple punch, two kinds of cheese, chicken liver pate, devilled eggs, scotch eggs with chutney sauce and biscuits. About 30 guests and 4-H members then sat down to the attractively decorated tables. ",�';"'x', rig .a Colborne Corner Gertrude Knitting, correspondent 524.2076 expressed thanks to the Tiger Dunlop Women's In- stitute for sponsoring them and for their interest in the project and the publicity given them in the Signal -Star every meeting. The meal was smorgasbord style with a Hallowe'en theme and inter- national food, based on chicken and egg products, to show what members had learned. The many dishes in- cluded chicken with Chinese accent, chicken parmigiana Italiano, Japanese broiled chicken, chicken Normandy, chicken Pacifica, Mexican chicken pilaf, Indian curry, tossed salad with French dressing made with egg, Americana macaroni salad, and braided egg bread. All were very delicious and ap- petizing with pumpkin squash pie and cream puffs for dessert with,tea and cof- fee Mrs. G. Schoemaker, Ron Riehl and Betty Schoemaker won the prizes for the lucky chair. After this delicious meal, the tables'wvere cleared and some of the guests enjoyed a few "common sense" con- tests while the girls washed the dishes and put the kit- chen in order, returning for another contest. Mrs. G. Kaitting, on behalf of the Tiger Dunlop Women's Institute and the mothers and a few fathers present, Know the signals What would you do if so- meone near you was having a heart attack? Knowing, the signals of heart attack and having a predetermined action plan are steps every person should take to be ready in an emergency. If the signals persist for two minutes or more, get the victim to the nearest hospital emergency depart- ment. thanked the leaders and 441 members for this enjoyable evening and the delicious meal. Many expressed the wish they would like to have some of the recipes. This finalized the meetings for this project and Achieve- ment Day will be Monday, November 30 at 7 p,m. in the Auburn Hall. The group will have an exhibit. Social News Pleased to report Mrs. Hazel Thom, who has been a patient in a London hospital due to surgery on her eye, is now convalescing favorably. Mr. and Mrs. John Patter- son of Seafotrth visited with Mr. and Mrs. G. Kaitting on Monday. Mrs. Hume Clutton and her son William Clutton and his wife visited with Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Chalmers of Poole, Ontario. Remember the . paper drive in Goderich Saturday, November 14.
