Sunday they travelled to Wingham and were defeated by the Royals 9-5. Against Mildmay,' the Sailors had three goals scored against goalie Percy Bedard in the first period before connecting for one at 17:52'. Dale Duncan notched the Short-handed goal to make it 3-1. The Monarchs made it 5-1 by 6:25 of the second period. After five more Mildmay goals, Goderich scored their last goal of the night at 16:00 of the third period. It was again a short-handed goal, notched by Dave Bartliffe on a play set up by Larry Gaynor. The Sailors managed five goals against Wingham, but the goals -against was too much to overcome and they lost their second in a row. The Sailors were leading 3- 2 at the end 01 the f irst period on power play goals by Dirk Wolteroek assisted by Paul _Kelly and Kevin Meriam, and Dale Duncan assisted by Larry Gaynor and Gerry Rozendal, and a goal by Steve Buchanan set up by Duncan and Gaynor. And at the end of the send period, the Sailors were still leadhig, 54. Jeff Denome scored one assisted by Duncan and Buchanan, and Buchanan got his second of the night on a play set up by Duncan and Gaynor. But in the third, the Sailors fell apart as the Royals got five goals on Percy Bedard t� win the game 9-5. This Friday • night, the Sailors play host to a new team in this division, Southhampton. Lions Pee Wees win 141 The Goderich Lions Pee Wees, eager to play some games during the two-week break in their scheclide, travelled to Clinton last Friday night and came home the 14-1 winners. The Lions scored three goals in the first minute of Way which set the tempo of the game. Each line for the locals figured in the scoring. • Scott Garrow led the point producers with four goals and five assists. Bill Trebish had five goals, three assists, Ryan Kelly one goal, four assists, Shawn Larder two goals, Todd Nurse two goals, Darren Stanbury, Steve Johnston, and Brian Chambers each had single assists. Besides' the good offensive punch the Lions showed, the defence had a very strong outing as did both goalten- ders. This year's Lions team is made up of Jay Williamson and Tod Dui' min in goal; Bryan Bowman, Bark Burbine, Brian. Chambers, Rod Nurse and Tim Wilson make up othe defence; the forwards consist of Scott Garrow, Ryan Kelly, Bill Trebish, Shawn Larder, Mark Cauchi, David -Brown, Darren Stanbury, Todd Nurse and Steve Johnston. The Lions swing back into league play this Saturday at home against Ilderton and then ixavetto Luenn SunclaY;, Old Deckhands lose to Sarnia Old Oilers The Goderich Old Deckhands hosted the Sarnia Old Oilers on Sunday in Oldtimer League hockey action and lost to them by a , score of 7-4. Sarnia went ahead 4-0 before the Goderich Old Deckhands could answer with _their first goal from 1-1-arvey Livingston. tininnstfin hit the net again four minutes later. Sarnia scored three more times in the third period to Goderich's two. Buck Million connected for a goal, and Wayne Doak scored the last one. The Old Deckhands play next on November 8 vvhen they host the London Blues at 8 p.m, Bridge Club scores The Goderich Bridge Club played a nine -table Mitchell game on October 27 with the average score being 84. On the North South side, Mary Donnelly and Eleanor Erskine were tops with 97 points. In second place was • the team of Teresa Donatis • and Arlene Gibbons with 931/2 points. There was a tie for third Rt 17 points between the teams of Joanne Duckworth and Lee Ryan, and Helen Tench and John Wood. On the East West side, Bill C(ochrane and Fred Egener combined to take first place with 96', points. Helen Gardiner and Audrey Tobin were second with 921/2 points, and Betty and Ray Fisher were third with 91. Atoms edge Lucan 4-3 The Goderich Machinist Atoms defeated the Lucan Atoms in Shamrock League play Saturday with a close 4- 3 decision. • Jeff Hodges opened up the scoring for Goderich 12 seconds into the game. He was assisted by George Sideris and Richard Bowman. Goderich took a two goal lead in the second period when Robert Dempsey scored, assisted by Tim Harrison. Lucan came back in the third period with two goals to tie things up. Goderich went ahead again when Harrison scored, assisted by Sidetii. Five minutes later Lucan again tied the scored.
