age of 67.

County; and a superin-
tendent with the Huron

retiring in 1973. He lived in
Humberstone, Port Credit
and Prescott until moving to
Goderich in 1969.
He served as an armament
instructor with the R.C.A.F.
during World War II,
enlisting in 1941 and being
discharged in 1945.
He was a member of the
R.A. Masons, the Eastern
Star, past president of
Prescott Rotary Club and a
member of the. Goderich
Lions Club, the Har-
bouraires, the Goderich
Branch of the Cancer Society
and the Huron County Unit of
the Cancer Society and was
active with the C.N.I.B., the
Cancer Society and •the
Heart Foundation.
He was a memberof.North
Street United Church and a
lay chairman of Huron -Perth
Presbytery of the United
Church of Canada.
In August of 1942 he
married Ethel E.
Climenhage ' in Hum-
berstone. She predeceased
him.
In July of 1962 he married
Olive E. Davies in Burritts
Rapids. She survives him.
Also surviving him are
three daughters, Mrs. Pat
(Karen) Glynn of Montreal,
Mrs. Vincent (Sheryl)
Cunningham of Chatham
and Mrs. Peter (Mary Ellen)
Salmon of Edmonton; two
sisters, Mrs. Guy (Grace)
White and Mrs. Brock
(Mary) Payne, both of Olds,
Alberta; and five grand-
children.

The body of the late Mr.
Knisley rested „at Stiles
Funeral Home and a funeral
service was held at North
Street United Church on
Friday, October 30 at 2 p.m.
The Reverend Robert O. Ball
officiated.
Interment was in the
Maitland Cemetery,
Goderich.
Pallbearers • were George
Parsons, Dewar Norman,
Ross McDaniel, Earl
Rawson, Ralph Smith and
Ray Barker.
FRITZ BASLER
Fritz Bash 171 East
Street, Goderich died at his
residence on Saturday,
October3l at the age of 50.
He was born in Baden

Baden, West Germany on
November 26, 1930 to Alfred
and Berta (Lempert) Basler.
He attended school in West
Germany and on April 15,
1950 he married Hermine
Krauth in West Germany.
They moved to West Lorne in
1954 and to Gode rich in 1962.
The late Mr. Basler
worked as an industrial
therapy supervisor at
Bluewater Centre. He was
past president of Goderich
K40 Club and the founder of
the Goderich Old Timers
Soccer Club.
He was a member of St.
Peter's Roman Catholic'
Church, Goderich.
He is survived by his wife;
two daughters, Mrs. Peter
(Rosemarie) Cammaert of
London and Mrs. Wayne
(Linda) Faegan of
Goderich; one son, Alfred
Basler of Goderich; six
brothers, John of Detroit,
Adolph of San Francisco,,
Hubert of West Germany,
Klaus and Manfred, both of
Kitchener -and Ray of
Toronto; and four grand-
children.
The body of the late Mr.
Basler rested at Stiles
Funeral,Home and a funeral
service was held at St.
Peter's Roman Catholic
Church on Tuesday,
November 3 at 2 p.m. The
Reverend Father A.F.
Loebach officiated.
Interment was in Maitland
Cemetery, Goderich.
Pallbearers were Gunther
Machay, Jack Pierschke,
Evert Middel, Tom Profit,
Joe O'Brien and Pete
McCauley.
Honorary bearers were
Karl Hagen and Iry
Schneider.
DR. H. L. SMITH
A respected summer resi-
dent of 175 Essex Street,
Goderich, for over 55 years,
Dr. H. L. Smith, died in
hospital at Windsor on Oc-
tober 31 in his 91st year.
Survivors are his wife, a
son Robert W. of Windsor, a
daughter, Mrs. James
(Beverley) Thompson of
London, five grandchildren
and two great-
grandchildren.
A memorial service will be
held on November 9 at All
Saints Anglican Church,
Windsor.

the weekend that Dorothy
Storey (Bender) formerly of
Goderich Township, had an
accident this past August
when her Woodstock trailer
home blew up. Her husband
Ellwood was released from
hospital some six weeks ago,
but Dorothy is still in the
burn unit of Victoria
