Seaforth plans
nearly new arena
with fund raising
SEAFORTH - Seaforth will
have a nearly new arena, at
a cost of $900,000-0r as low as
$750,000 if a proposal to raise
$225,000 from private fund
raising is met.
The building plan will use
portions of the existing
structure and a new steel
shell will be built over the
present front end. A new
hallway and back portion
will be constructed.
Council agreed on the
renovation and addition plan
after studying several
proposals. They eliminated
alternatives which would
repair the condemned
trusses at a cost of 000,000
or repair the trusses and
brine pipes in the arena floor
at a cost of $250,000. A
proposal to build a com-
pletely new $1.5 million
arena was also turned down.
Seaforth Clerk 4im
Crocker pointed out that the
life expectancy of a repair
job might last 10 years, while
the new steel construction
should last 50 to 100 years.
