Eric Reaburn speaks to
Tiger Dunlop Women's In-
stitute October meeting, was
in Colborne Township Hall,
Thursday, October 22 at 7:30
P.m. President, Mrs. R.
Buchanan opened the
meeting, welcoming all and
after the members and
guests joined in the Opening
Ode, the Mary Stewart Col-
lect and 0 Canada, with Mrs.
G. Kaitting at the piano, she
spoke regarding the sudden
passing of one of the
members, Mrs. Mollie Sut-
' ton. A minute's sllence,
followed by prayer, was
observed as a memoriam
and Mrs. Kaitting was asked
to give Mrs. Sutton's sister a
small remembrance and a
note of sympathy from the
Institute.
Mrs. Buchanan thanked
the members for the flower
from the Institute and for
cards received in the passing
of her sister recently.
The roll call, "An educa-
tional opportunity I have
missed," was answered by
13 members and there were
eight visito'rs present.
Guests from Dungannon
W.I. and Goderich Township
were welcomed.
Minutes of the last
meeting were read by the ac-
ting secretary, Mrs. Kaitting
and approved and cor-
respondence was read and
attended to. This included an
invitation from Blyth In-
stitute to their meeting
November 5 at 8 p.m. (it was
uncertain if . any members
would be able to accept this
invitation). Correspondence
regarding the area conven-
tion to be held in St. Marys,
November 5 and 6 had not
been received but Mrs. E.
Bogie was chosen as the
delegate and arrangements
were made. A letter from
C.N.I.B: was read and a mo-
tion to Send a donation was
approved. A post card was
received and read from Earl
Reaburn when he was serv-
ing with Crossroads in Yen -
di, Ghana, Africa. Members
were informed of the revi-
sion to the by-law regarding
the annual fee to be paid to
the district secretary
treasurer.
The motto, given by ,Mrs.
Dorothy Feagan, was a very
interesting article from .the
pen of Mr. Smiley.
Delegates to the Institute

Bean and Mrs. H. Brindley.

sion, Both were very in-
teresting and informative.
The Reverend Scott was
guest speaker on the subject,
"The Disabled".
The meeting was then
turned \over to Mrs. Eric
Reaburn who introduced her
son Earl who has been serv-
ing
ereing with Crossroads in
Africa and who, with the
assistance of his sister,
Janice who has been living in
Africa for several months
since her marriage, told of
the location of his work, the
type of work (agriculture
and health) and community
development. He showed
very interesting slides of the
country where he was, the
people, homes, markets,
church services, modes of
living, etc., all of which was
very interesting and educa-
tional as members asked
questions during the slides.
Earl seemed very in-
terested in his work and
replied he would be willing to
go back or do this work in
another field. Members were
then interested in viewing
the many souvenirs he and
his sister displayed as some
of the articles were wearing
apparel.
The president thanked
Earl and Janice for the in-
teresting evening.
The November meeting
will be Thursday, November
26 at 1:45 p.m.
The meeting closed with
The Queen and The Grace
after which members en-
joyed a social half-hour with
lunch served by the commit-
tee ` of Mrs. Falkiner, Mrs.
Horton, Mrs. E. Bogie, Mrs.
H. Brindley and Mrs. S.
Snyder, while they also en-
joyed purchasing plants
donated from Mrs. Sutton
and other articles from the
members.
Two African violet plants
were .^ delivered to. two
members who have been in
the hospital, Mrs. George
McBride and Mrs. James
Horton. They are wished a
speedy recovery.

Mr. and Mrs. Steve
Buchanan have moved from
Colborne Township to.
Goderich and are residing on
Auxiliary meets
The Huronview Auxiliary
met in the Huronview Board
Room on October 19th. The
president, Mrs. L. Lockhart
opened the meeting by all
repeating The Lord's
Prayer. Mrs. E. Webster
read the minutes of the last
meeting and Mrs. Marion
Powell gave the treasurer's
report. Correspondence was
read.
It was decided to give $100
to the Clinton Hospital
Building Fund Committee,
The Gorrie WI will be in
charge of the October bir-
thday party.
Mrs. Mary Hoonard gave a
reading "A Crabby Old
Woman in a Hospital Bed"
and Mrs. R. Phillips read the
"Nurses Reply"
The next meeting will be
November 16 and visitors
are welcome.

weeks with her parents and
will be returning to England
November 10 to visit for a
couple of weeks before retur-
ning to. Guinea, Africa to join
her husband.

Goderich on the birth of their
son, William Robert
Bradley, born October 9 at
St. Joseph's Hospital.

School news
Friday, October 30 will be
a P.D. Day at Colborne Cen•
tral and the children will not
be attending school.
This week several
Hallowe'en parties are being
held at the school for the
children.
The school will enter a
float in' the Santa Claus
Parade on Saturday,
November 28th in Goderich.
Colborne Central School's
Christmas concert is plann-
ed for Wednesday,
December 16.
