Saturday, September 19 at
11:30 a.m. for the wedding
ceremony of Valerie Jean
Johnston and Kevin Franklin
Mills. •
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey
Johnston of Goderich and the
groom is the son of Dr. and
Mrs. G.F. Mills of St.
Catharines.
The Reverend G.L. Royal
officiated at the double ring
ceremony and organist
Lorne Dotterer provided the
wedding music.
The bride was given in
marriage by her father. She
wore a long off-white gown
with chiffon overlay, long
sheer sleeves and a mat-
ching wide -brimmed hat
with waist length veil. She
carried a nosegay of fresh
mauve mums, tinted car-
nations and fern surrounding
a single orchid.
Matron of honor was
Joanne Buchanan of
Goderich, friend of the bride.
She wore a street -length
steel blue. sleeveless crepe
dress with tiny pearl buttons
on the bodice andcarried a
nosegay of fresh mauve
mums and white carnations.
Bridesmaids were
Patricia. Solomchuk of
Waterloo, cousin of the -bride
and . Melanie. Johnston of
Toronto, sister of the bride.
They were gowned the same
as the matron of honor and
carried the same nosegays.
. Groomsman. was • Chris
Evans of Kingston, of Kingston, friend of
the groom.
Guests were ushered into
the church by Gord Wray of
Goderich and Keith Grafton
off Waterdown, friends of the
groom.
Following the wedding
ceremony, a dinner was held
at the Bedford Hotel. Cen-
trepieces of fresh flower
'arrangements with candles
adorned the tables. All
flowers for the bridal
bouquets and centrepieces
for the tables were arranged
by Jean McKee of Benmiller.
Ken Wilson of Goderich,
uncle of the bride, acted as
emcee a t the dinner.
The bride's mother
greeted guests wearing a
long gown of light mauve
with an orchid corsage.
The groom's mother -
assisted wearing a plum
colored street -length dress
with an orchid corsage.
For a wedding trip, the
bride changed to a light blue
street -length dress with a
corsage of silk flowers.
Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Mills
are now residing in Kit-
chener, Ontario.
Prior to her wedding; the
bride was feted at a shower
hosted by Winnie Walters
and Joanne Buchanan at the
home of Mrs. Walters -for
friends and relatives of the •
bride in Goderich and at a
family shower, hosted by
Karen Button, sister of the
groom, in Ridgetown.
A rehearsal party was
hosted by the groom's
parents in Goderich.
Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Hirst
Wed in Clinton
Candelabras and blue
bows decorated Wesley -
Willis United Church in Clin-
ton on September 12 as Bon-
nie Van Riesen and Dennis
Hirst were united in mar-
riage. The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs..
Robert Van Riesen and the
groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Hirst of
Goderich.
The Reverend J. Bechtel
officiated at the double ring
ceremony and music was
provided by pianist Cathy
Potter and soloist Bonnie
Jewitt who sang "Endless
Love", "Evergreen" and
"Ice Castles".
The bride, who was given
in marriage by her father,
wore a long white gown of
chiffon and organza with full
sleeves and lily point cuffs.
Appliqued lace and pearls
adorned the scoop neckline,
empire waistline and the
Juliette cap. The veil was
trimmed with white lace.
She carried a blue lace fan
adorned with blue and white
rosesand baby's breath.
Maid of honour was Lynn
Armstrong of Clinton, friend
of the bride. She wore a long
blue gown featuring a lace
cape trimmed with blue rib-
bons and wore blue baby's
breath in her hair. She car-
ried a white lace fan adorned
with blue and White roses
an' al5abrYireath.
Bridesmaids were Tracy
Hirsit of Goderich, sister of
the groom, and Christine
Van Riesen of Pickering,
cousin of the bride. They
were both gowned the same
as the maid of honour and
carried similar flowers.
Flowergirl was Valerie
Van Riesen, sister of the
bride. She wore a long white
dress trimmed with blue
lace and blue ribbons. She
carried a miniature fan iden-
tical to the bride's.
Groomsman was Brian
Hough of Clinton, friend of
the groom andguests were
ushered by Allan Hirst of
Stratford, brother of the
groom and Brian Van Riesen
of Clinton, brother of the
bride. Ringbearer was
Chuckie Peterson of
Goderich, nephew of the
groom.
Following the wedding, a
dinner and reception was
held at the Clinton Legion
Hall with Ken Van Riesen,
the bride's uncle as master
of ceremonies.
For a wedding trip to
Niagara Falls, the bride
changed to a street length
white dress and burgundy
blazer. The couple will
reside in Stratford, Ontario.
Prior to the wedding, a
shower was held by the
bride's aunt, Mrs. Lois Gibb-
ings and cousins Mrs. Wendy
Meidinger of Kitchener and
Mrs. Lynne Davies of Lon-
don.
Guests attended the -wed-
ding from Goderich, Picker-
ing, London, Kitchener,
Burlington and Vancouver,
B.C.
