Geerts' work will be on display and for sale at the Walkerton Heritage Fair October 24 and 25. Fair features sketches The Walkerton Heritage Fair is again fortunate to feature the pen and ink sket- ches of' John Geerts of Markdale. Recently John won first prize at a juried art show in Wiarton with his sketch of "Fisherman's Whart, Tober- mory". ,; Ie has also won numerous other awards in- cluding honourable mention at juried shows in Goderich and Owen Sound. His works were on display at the Durham Art Gallery in Durham this past summer. His drawings capture the historic beauty of our land- marks and heritage buildings. Some of Geerts' works will be for sale in the full size original, as well as in reproduced post card size. There is no doubt that he is rapidly becoming one of Canada's leading pen and ink artists. Ingrid "O'Gorman of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kirkconnell Goderich man is wed in Dawn Polloway, daughter of Mr. and. Mrs. Bob Polloway of. Calgary, Alber- ta and Donald Kirkconnell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kirkconnell, Goderich were married in . a double ring ceremony at Lakeview United Church, Calgary on August 8. The bride was • given in marriage by her parents. She wore a white chiffon gown with a U-shaped neckline and train. She car- ried a bouquet of red roses sprinkled - with baby's breath. The . maid of honour was Reta Markle of Calgary. Bridesmaids were Lisa Moore of Toronto and Tory McDonald of Goderich. All wore flowered mauve dresses with . spaghetti straps and handkerchief bot- toms. The bridesmaids' bou- quets were made up of mauve carnations and yellow daisies. Best man was Ed Court- ney of Penticton, B.C. Groomsmen were Paul Schaefer of Kelowna, B.C. and Ron Kirkconnell of Goderieh. Ushers were Rob Polloway of Calgary and Greg Kirkconnell of Goderich. The dinner and dahce following the ceremony_were ----haa 'at Vii o vi�tdge Coni- mutiny Centre. Emtee was Calgary Ron Darling, cousin of the bride. Relativesof the groom at- tending the wedding were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kirkconnell; grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Good of Goderich and Andrew Kirkconnell of Auburn;, aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Benson Good of Corunna, Mrs. Mary Park of Winnipeg, and Miss Dianne Kirkconnell and Wayne Dwyer of Edmonton. Following a honeymoon in Niagara Falls, the couple drove to Goderich, where a reception was held at Safford Valley Hall. • Bridal showers were held by Nora .O'Keefe, friend of the bride and groom, Ber- nice Kisio, aunt of the, bride and Elda White, aunt of the groom. Mr. and Mrs. Kirkconnell are now residing in Calgary. Cargill will be presenting her pen and ink drawings of old country schools in Bruce County and scenes of Bruce. Her exhibit will also include chalk and pastel coloured drawings of birds. The Heritage Fair is proud to have these two talented artists display their 'work. Thedate of the Fair is Oc- tober 24 and 25 and will be held in the Knights of Colum- bus Hall south of Walkerton. Cou, 1 make new home in Strathroy Knox -Presbyterian Church in Goderich, decorated with white candelabrum, yellow gladioli and white daisies, was the setting for the August 1 wedding of Barbara Anne Suplat and Colin Ian Brander, The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Suplat of Goderich and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Peter Brander, also of Goderich. Rev. G.L. Royal conducted the double ring ceremony and wedding music was supplied by soloist Grant Ellison and organist Lorne Dotterer. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore an elegant white gown of polyester sheer, trimmed with Chantilly lace. The dress featured a Queen Anne neckline and full lace bishop sleeves. A six -tier bouffant chapel train trimmed with lace fell from the waist, matching the pick-up lace styling at the centre front of the gown. A fingertip veil trailed from the bride's lace mantilla headpiece, and a bouquet of red roses, sprinkled with baby's breath and long satin streamers accented with red roses, completed her outfit. Sandra Herman, of Stratford, a friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Brenda Kerr, niece of the brideand Heather Brander, sister of the groom, both of Goderich. Their pale yellow, full-length gowns had dainty spaghetti straps and sheer yellow capes with satin edging, complimented with a yellow sllk rose worn at the shoulder. The attendants each carried nosegays of yellow roses, white car- nations and baby's breath. Flowergirl, Sherry Suplat, niece of the bride, wore a long, white dress with a ruffled bottom, sheer overlay and full sleeves. She also wore white gloves and carried yellow carnations and white daisies in a white basket, finished with trailing yellow streamers. David Brander, of Strathroy, brother of the groom, was the best man, and guests were ushered into the church by Gord Jenkin and John Little, friends of the groom, both of Goderich. Dale Brindley, nephew of the bride, was ringbearer. All were attired in mid -tan colored tuxedos. Following the ceremony, a dinner and reception were held at the Saltford Valley Hall. For the occasion the bride's mother wore a long lilac colored gown that featured accordion pleats. Her dress was accented by a yellow rose corsage. The groom's mother wore a floor - length turquoise colored gown. Her accompanying jacket ,had a high lace 'trimmed neckline and she wore a pink rose corsage The newlyweds Left on a SweePstake winners named Saturday night recently, the Friends of Blyth drew the winning tickets for the Celebrity Sweepstakes. Junior Farmers meet The September, meeting of the West Huron Junior Farmers was held September 14 at Brookside School. Junior Farmer history books are for sale and may be obtained from any Junior Farmer member. Arrangements for the club's float in the Lucknow Fall Fair parade were made. The club will assist the Lucknow Agricultural Socie- ty at the fair by selling tickets and conducting the tug of war and wheelbarrow races. The formation of a square dancing group *as discuss- ed. The club is catering to the banquet and dance for the Wales delegates which is being held in Seaforth, Oc- tober 8. Kay Morrison will be at- tending the social recreation workshop September 26 at Shelburne. The annual banquet and dance will be held November 28 at Brookside School. Com- mittees were, organized for food, serving lunch and decorating. The Liicknow Medical Centre signs which the club constructed have been re- painted. The playground equipment which has been built, for Ashfield Park has been put in place. The club's camping trip m August was enjoyable and everyone is looking forward togoing again next year. October is membership month. Anyone between 15- 30 years old may join. The meeting is October 12 at 8:00 at Brookside Public School. If you are looking for fun and want to meet ,lots of people your own age, come on out and join West Huron Junior Farmers. Wheat meeting to be held The 23rd Annual Wheat Producers' Meeting is going to be held on Monday, Oc- tober 19, 1981 at the Red Oak Inn, Peterborough. The meeting will commence at 9:30 a.m. and will review the 1980 crop financial state- ment and 1980 crop year business. Prior to the wedding, the bride was honored at a shower held by Moira McMahon, aunt " of the groom. The sisters of the bride also had a shower, and a staff shower was' held at the home of Mrs. Karen Fooks. The groom's parents entertained at their home with a rehearsal party. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dale Graham Wed in Red Deer Red Deer, Alberta was the setting for an outdoor wed- ding joining Judith -Lyn Johnston and Robert Dale Graham in marriage. The wedding took place August 29 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Graham of RR2, Red Deer. Attending the bride and groom were the maid of honor, Joanne. Wells, and the best man, Frank Moore. Bridesmaids I were Carol Wagner and Judy Graham. Ushers were Kevin and Doug Graham. Following ' the wedding were a supper and dance held at the Golden Circle in Red Deer. Guests attended from Goderich and Meaford, Ontario, Surrey, B.C. and various parts of Alberta. Judy is the youngest daughter of Gordon and Islay. Johnston of Goderich.
