GODERICH SIGNAL -STAR, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 1981,,
GDCI graduates for 1981
Jenny More and Ken Wood, Grade 13 graduates, were the
winners of the GDCI Staff Awards. The students are
selected by '.the teaching staff for their academic
achievement, leadership and participation in extra-
curricular programs. Ken was also valedictorian ,an
Ontario Scholar and recipient of the Robert MacKay

Dianne Bogie was the recipient of the Goderich Com-
munity Credit Union Scholarship awarded to the student
with the highest average over four years in commercial
subjests. Heather Lowey (at left) also received a Com-
munity Credit Union Scholarship for the best averageln
Grade 12 commercial subjects. Philip Brown received the
Eastern Star Award, awarded to a Grade 12 graduate who
is registered at an institution of higher learning.( Photo by.

Several students were honored for, their bscholastic
achievements at GDCI commencement exercises Friday.
The recipients included; Mary Lillian Simpson, W.H.
Robertson Scholarship for the highest English marks in
Grades 11 and 12 and the Signal -Star Award for the highest.
net typing speed; Griff Murphy received the Peter
Adamson Memorial Scholarship and the Energy and
ChemicalWorkers. Union Local 16 Award for economics;
Lisa Ryan won a William Elliott Creative Writing Award;
Marian Lam, received the R.D.. Munro Scholarship and the
Goderich Combmunity Credit Union Scholarship for a
graduating student with the highest average over four
years and Elizabeth McMillan, received the Rotarians'.

The graduating class of 1981 produced several award and
scholarship winners. The recipients include; Moira Don-
nelly, the recipient of the William Cutt Memorial Sholarship
awarded to the student achieving the highest standing in
two languages in Grades 12 and 13; Brenda Feagan, an
Ontario Scholarship recipient; Lisa Roske, recipient of the
Goderich Lions Club Award for Canadian Studies and an
Ontario scholar; Juanita Fielder, recipient -of a William E.
Elliott Creative Writing Award and Ginette Richard,
recipient of the Town of Goderich Award. the back row
'includes; Grant Culbert, an Ontario scholar, recipient of
the Andrew and Rheta Scott award for mathematics; Paul
Mansz, an Ontario Scholar and recipient of the A.M.
Robertson Award for mathematics and science and the
International Association of Machinists and Aerospace
Worker's Scholarship and Darrell Kloeze. an, Ontario
Scholar and recipient of the A.J. Moore Memorial
Scholarship, the George Buchanan Music Award and the
