Former painter passes away
DAVID MILLAR
• WILSON '
Mr. David Millar Wilson,
formerly of 171 Newgate
Street, Goderich, passed
away on September 23, 1981
at Westminster Hospital in
London at the age of 83.
He was born on August 19,
1898 in England to Thomas
and IsobelWilson. He
.married Beatrice Alice
Tufford ' and was
predeceased by her on
September 20, 1979.
He was a painter and was
known for his 30 years of
painting lettering on
equipment for the Goderich
P.U.C.
He served in the Fourth
Canadian Infantry and was a
Vary-_Veteren. He was a
member of the Royal
Canadian Legion, Branch
'109, Goderich, and a member
of Knox Presbyterian
Church.
He is survived by one
daughter, Mrs. Jean Dunbar
of Regina, Saskatchewan;
six grandchildren, one
brother, George Wilson of
Ottawa. He is predeceased
by one son, Harold, on July
29, 1964; also two brothers,
Harold and Alfred.
Service and committal
was held Monday, Sep-
tember 28 at Stiles Funeral
Home, Goderich with the
Reverend . G.L. Royal of-
ficiating. Interment was in
Veteran's Plot at Maitland
Cenpetery, Goderich.
Royal Canadian Legion,
Branch 109, held a service at
the funeral home on Sunday,
Septeinber27.

General Hospital at the age
of 81.
He was born to Joseph and.
Grace . (Wright) Rapson in
Hullett Township on October
22, 1899. He married Lillian
Rose • Tamblyn in 1923 in
Londesboro and was
predeceased by -her in 1967.
He lived in Hullett
Township until coming to
Goderich in 1955. He was a
real estate salesman.
He .was a member of
Victoria L.O.L.- •No.182,
Goderich, and an adherent of
North Street United Church.
He is survived by two
daughters, Shirley (Mrs.
Wilfred Parent) of Mitchell,
`and Joanne (Mrs. Wayne
Muck). of Goderich; also ten
grandchildren, five great
grandchildren; he was
predeceased. by one son,
Kenneth in 1974. ,
Funeral service was held
Tuesday, September 29 at
Stiles Funeral Home with the
Reverend Austin Gedke
officiating. Interment was in
Ball's Cemetery at Auburn.
Pallbearers were his
grandsons, John, David,
Robert, Stephen, and Tom
Parent, Rick and Carey'
Muck. Flowerbearers were
granddaughters Connie
Vivian, Gail Illingworth,
Shirley Kelly, great gran-
ddaughter Jennifer Vivian,
and great grandson Sean
Vivian.
Victoria L.O.L. No.182 held
a service at the funeral home.

ALAN ARMSTRONG
Alan Archibald , Arm-
strong, formerly of Bayfield,
passed away, suddenly at
Peel Memorial Hospital,
Brampton, on Tuesday,
September 22, 1981.
He was born in Clinton on
August 17, 1950 and spent his
early years in Stanley
Township where he attended
Public School at S.S. No. 4.
After completing high-school
at Clinton he attended
University of Waterloo,
where he received a degree
of B. Sc., in Honour Physics.
He spent some time working
at the National Research
Centre, Ottawa, before conti-
nuing h'is education at
Carleton University, Ott'a'wa
vyhere he graduated in 1977
with a B. Eng. degree. He
,lad been engaged in
research and development
with Northern Telecom
Canada Ltd. in Bramalea
since 1977.
I.n 1976 he was married to
Shirley Wattie of Ottawa.
Besides his wife he is surviv-•
ed by one daughter,
Charlene Elizabeth; his
parents, William and Maude
(MacMath )' Armstrong; two
brothers, Doug and James,
all of R.R. No.3, Bayfield,
and two sisters Mrs. Gary.
(Winnie) Darnbrough,
Bayfield and Mrs. Chris
(Julia) Archambault, , Lon-
don.

He was a member of Knox
Presbyterian Church,
Bayfield. The. funeral ser-
vice' was held September • 24
at the Ward Funeral Home.

Presbyterian Church,
Amherstview and Mr. Colin.
Harris _of Bayfield
Presbyterian church con-
ducted the service.
The funeral was largely at-
tended by friends, relatives
and co-workers who paid
warm tribute to Alan for his
outstanding'qualities of con-
scientiousness, kindness and
understanding.
