A carload of pressed
bricks was received for the
Baptist Church budding on
Wednesday and as soon as
the front frame is in position
the contractors will re-
commence the brick -work.
Bush fires were `raging on
the farms of Albert Gold-
thorpe and Levi Homey in
Colborne on Wednesday and
damage must be con-
siderable, for the reflection
was quite visible in Goderich
and many citizens watched it
for hours.
Attention has been called
to the occasional stoppage of
sewers in town, the latest
being the one on Trafalgar
Street.
A proposition is Lately to be
submitted to the town
council asking for a fran-
chise for the installation of a
steam heating and power
plant in Goderich.
The roofing for the
elevator was delivered at the
dock on Monday morning
after an exceedingly long
delay.

Town council voted Friday
night to turn down a request

present arrangement
whereby the town owns the
building and the board
manages it.
The threat of a curtailment
in CNR passenger service
between distant points

The Goderich Minor

A story which claimed that
Goderich has the greatest
average municipal tax in-
crease per household in the
entire province was printed
and broadcast province -wide
before it was found to be
incorrect by the Ministry of
Treasury and Economics in
Toronto this week and
councillor Leroy Harrison
says provincial treasurer
Darcy McKe ough owes the
municipality a public
apology.

is the best way they said -
just go driving and enjoy
