(Photo by Cath Wooden) mberley child killed BY KAE WEBSTER The Amberley hamlet was saddened and shocked last Sunday morning to hear of the ' death of little Jillian Oldenburg in her seventh year: She, . the . beloved daughter of Dave and Rosemarie' Oldenburg of Amberley, was killed .in ,a car accident 2 km. east of Wingham. A car driven by Russell McGuire of Bran- tford slid into the Oldenburg. car killing himself and little. Jillia n who was asleep in the backseat. Mr. McGuire was a disc jockey at CKNX-FM Wingham .having just acquired this position just two weeks before the ac- cident. Mr. McGuire was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lovell McGuire formerly of this area and was a nephew of Mrs. Jim Bradley and Mrs. J.S. Robb. Mr. and Mrs. Oldenburg and son Shane were hospitalized for cuts and had many cuts from broken glass. Then Wednesday morning .the community received its second shock when they heard that Paul Reigling, six-year-old son of Max and Helen Reigling of Lochalsh, was hit and critically injured when he was hit' by a truck when Paul and his brother. Dean were crossing the highway. to board theschool bus.., The man driving the truck was from Wroxeter on his way to work in " Kin- cardine. Paul remains in critical condition in Victoria Hospital in London at time of writing: Sympathy' is ex- tended to Max and Helen and many prayers are being said for the recovery of their little boy. Mrs. Dorothy Finlayson had some of her family with her on the Labor Day weekend. They were Jane and Raul Emberlin and family of Toronto, Bill and Judy Finlayson and family of Sarnia, Rod and Jeanie Finlayson and family of Sarnia and Allen Finlayson of Toronto. Dick Evans left for Sud- bury Wednesday after spending three weeks visiting at Mrs. Rhetta, MacLennans. Donna and John Zim- merman of London visited on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Warren W ylds. Mary Ellen MacKenzie was flower girl and Mrs. Jim (Ruth) MacKenzie was bride's_..maid__a. _. the_._ Ina. Veiderhorst, Henry Jurjens wedding at the Dutch Reform Church in Lucknow last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Webster, had a few visitors to see: them from Richfield, Ohio and area last weekend. They were Ron Ellis, Ron and Jeanine Sholtys, Atlee Jean and Tricia Wise, Cecil Webster and Jim Webster of Waterloo. Ron Ellis, Mr, and Mrs. Sholtys and Atlee Wise carne up on their motor- cycles, while Jean, Tricia and Cecil came with the equipment in the J immy. Ron Ellis and Mr. and Mrs. Sholtys had been up .before snowmobiling, it was the first time to be up in the area during the summer. They found it very lovely and quite a difference to when the snow is deep and it is' cold and stormy. On Monday they all went up to the Bruce Nuclear Power Development and had a conducted tour. This was followed by a cook -out on the beach at Devil's Elbow at the end of the 12th. . Atlee Jean and Tricia'Wise and Cecil Webster stopped in Goderich ontheir way to Webster to see Mrs. Norma Young and Mrs. Viola Farquhar for a few minutes. MacDonald clan Some of the MacDonald. clan entertained at the Pinecrest Nursing Home in Lucknow on Thursday af- ternoon. It . was enjoyed much by the residents of the home. After. entertaining those that could get to the recreation room, they went to the rooms Werethe bedridden patients were and played for them there. . The ones taking part. on this occasion were: Mr. Mac Webster of Kincardine on the drums, Miss Mabel MacDonald of Lucknow on the piano, Mr, pavid .MacDonald of the Lot halsh area on the pipes, and Mr. Finlay. MacDonald also of the Lochalsh area had' his guitar. Mrs. Stella Irwin of Kinloss is now able to. be out of the hospital and is now recuperating at the home of • her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilkens. Glad to report that' Mrs. Irwin is now able to get arouhd well. Mr. and , Mrs. E.G. Torrible nee (Betty • Kem- pton) and four children are at the home of her twin brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kempton of Point Clark, and attended the Lowry, Kempton wed- ding in Ripley on Sat., Sept. 12. Pamela : McIntosh daughter of Mr. Bob McIntosh and the late Mrs. McIntosh starts her first year ofa two year course on Monday at Centralia Agricultural College. Pamela is taking Animal Health Technology. Good luck Pamela.. Dr, and. Mrs. Russell Moncrief spent the Labor Day weekend at the cottage at Waubaushene on the Bruce Peninsula.
