McGees
The vaunted McGee
Pontiac hitting machine
stalled on the weekend as
they won only one of their
three games.
McGees had their opening
victory taken right out from
under their noses as a
hungry Zurich team scored
three seventh inningruns to
defeat the Pontiacs 4-3.
Down 1-0, McGee -s scored
three in the third on -Paul

Bartliff's two -run homer and
Rick Sowerby's RBI single.
McGees seemed content to
sit on their lead that
vanished in the seventh. Ron
Klages and Ron Sowerby had
two hits for McGees.
In their second game, Ken
Daer threw a four -hitter and
Ron Klages scored the
winning run in the fifth as
McGee's edged Bryanston 2 -
Paul Kelly led off the game
with a walk. He then stole
second, moved to third on
Klages' sacrifice and scored
on Rick Sowerby's fly.
Bryanston tied it up in the
second. McGees won it in the
fifth when Klages singled,
stole second, advanced to
third on a wild throw, and
then scored nn a wild pitch..
They lost their next\game
4-2 to Lieury asrthey couldn't
put together any sort of
attack. They got a run in the
sixth on Rick Sowerby's
triple and then Klages
knocked in Paul Kelly in the
seventh.
Lieury scored two in the
seventh to put the game
away. It was a disappointing
weekend for McGees who
went in as a possible favorite
to win the B crown.

The Goderich Inter-
• mediates started off the
weekend fastball tour-
nament strongly, beating
Chatham 8-0 in their opening
game to put them in the
championship round of the A
division.
Pitcher Doug - Reinhart
hurled a no-hitter for
--ten in the shutout
which saw back-to-back
home rums by Bob Hnatyck
and Doc Miller.
However, the Inter-
mediates did not fare so well
in the quarter -final game
and were eliminated by
Sarnia Tri Con 4-2. Reinhart
pitched a three -hitter in this
game, and Hnatyck and Glen
Falkiner each scored
homers to tally the Goderich
runs.
Coach of the Goderich
Intermediates was Deb
Skewfelt with Murray
Budden managing.

taken by Sarnia St. Clair,

Meneset, leading their
series with the Bulldogs, one
game to none at the start of
last week, split a pair' of
games to lead the series two
games to one.
In the first game, Meneset
once again displayed first
inning power as they drove
in eight runs on nine hits.
The Bulldogs chipped away
at the lead throughout the'
game but were unable to
overcome the eight -run
disadvantage. The final
score was Meneset-12 . and
Bulldogs -9.
Before the third and
perhaps final game, the
Bulldogs said their strategy
was to try to shut down
Meneset in the first two
innings. That is exactly what
they did. In fact, it was a
scoreless tie at the end of
three innings.
In the fourth, Ron Hodges
and Gerry Rosendale, for the
Bulldogs, led•off with walks.
Subsequent base hits by
Brian Good, Gary Nicholson,
Jim Durnin; -Alex.
MacDonald, and Keith Good
led to six" runs before
Meneset could put them
down.
Meneset came storming
back with three runs in the
fifth and one run in the fourth
and sixth to narrow thescore
to 6-5 going into the seventh
inning.
Port Albert, desperately
trying to prolong the series,
succeeded as they pushed
across four runs in the
seventh and hung on for a 10-
