Norwich takes two -game lead in finals
• It was do or die for the
Hoffmeyer Little Plumbers
last night in Norwich. The
results of the game were not
available at ' presstime,
however, if the Plumbers
lost they are finished their
season and if they won, then
their Midwestern Ladies
Fastball League best -of -five
final series with Norwich
stands at two garnes'to one.
The teams opened the
.series in Norwich last
Tuesday night. The Little
Plumbers outhit the Jets 13
to 8, but it was Norwich that
carne�out on top by a score of
8-5. J
Goderich started out the
game strohgly, scoring four
runs in the second inning.
Sandy Rowe,'Sue Kolkman,
Marie Brindley, and Darlene
Bostock each got to home
plate for the Plumbers.

5-4, on a run by Heidi Elliott,

in the eighth inning to win it.

The teams played in
Goderich on Sunday af-
ternoon, and once again the
Plumbers outhit Norwich 11-
2, and once again Norwich
came out ahead 4-2.
The Jets opened the gain
with three first. inning runs,
although only one of them
was earned. The Little.

Walter's hit which was
mishandled by• the Jets'..
defence.
Norwich went ahead 4-1 in
the seventh inning, 'and
Goderich scored their other
run in the seventh from Heidi
Elliott. Elliott was top batter
for Goderich. going three for

Eastern Canadian
5-0-5 races here
on weekend
There will be some super
sailing out of Goderich this
weekend when the Goderich
Sailing Club hosts the 5-0-5
Association Eastern
Canadian Championships.
The races involve 161/2 -foot
two-man centre -board
dinghies: The Association
was here last year for a short
regatta and participants
were so impressed that they
requested the race here this
year.
There will be 50 boats
coming frorn all over
Eastern Canada and the
United States. The Eastern
Canadian Championships
are qualifiers for world -
championship races.

tourney fastball
starts Friday
The 13th annual Goderich
Industrial Fastball League
Labor Day Tournament
begins Friday evening and
will continue until Monday
evening with two divisions of
,top calibre fastball.,
Five Goderich teams will
be competing. The Goderich
Intermediates are in the 16 -
team A divsion while the
McGee Pontiacs, Fisher
Custom ..guilders, Lakeport
Steelers, and Gord's Sports
will be competing in the 16 -
team B div}sion.
The champion in each
division will receive $565 and
the 0 •consolation winner in
each division will win $275.
The total prize money is
$3,140. "'
The first game Friday
evening at 7:30 wilj feature
the McGee Pontiacs against
the Zurich Sunsets. Fishers
play Saturday morning at
•11:00 against Strathroy,
Lakeport Steel will go up
against Desboro at 2. p.m.
Saturday, and Gord's Sports
faces Ingersoll at 3:30.
Riders trying
for points
Hully Gully presents ex-
citing weekend motocross
action on September 6,
featuring all classes from
Schoolboy to Expert.
Riders will be competing
for trophies, points, and cash.
prizes.
This is .the, second:last
last
chance riders have to .ac=
cumulate points . for . the
overall standing in. the 1981
season. So come out and
cheer on your local riders to
win.
The Goderich Inter-
mediates play Chatham at
3:30 on Saturday also.
The A division cham-
pionship will be played
Monday at 7:30, the last
game of the tournament. The
consolation will be at 4:30
that day. The B consolation
game is a 3:00 Monday, and
the championship game is at
6:00.
This year's tournament
features 'a free dance on
Saturday night.
Hopefully, this year's
tournament will have better
weather that last year. The.
1980 tournament was rained
out and final games were re-
scheduled. London ended up
the winner of the A divsion..
