HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Goderich Signal-Star, 1981-09-02, Page 8C upl Candlelabras and pink and white pew ties decorated Benmiller United Church on July 18 at 4 p.m. for the wedding of Ronald James Young of R.R. 2 Goderich and Heather Margaret Jewell of R.R. 4 Goderich we The groom is the son of Mrs. Lorrine Young of Goderich and the late James Young and the bride is the daughter of 'Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jewell of R,R. 4 Goderich. The Reverend John Wood officiated at the double -ring ceremony. Music was provided by pianist Darlene Jewell of R.R. 4 Goderich and soloist Judy Loft of Parkhill who sang The Rose, Wedding Song,. Longer and If. The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She wore a long sleeved white polyester gown with a pleated stand up collar, a bodice inset with Belgian es 111 lace ,and a softly pleated skirt which flowed into a train,. She also wore a bowler hat made of lace to match the bodice of her dress with a veil extending from the back. She carried a silk cascade bouquet of dusty pink roses, daisies, blue miniature asters and pink miniature orchids. Maid of honor was Judy Fisher of Goderich, cousin of the bride and groom. She wore a long dusty rose gown featuring a Grecian neckline and pleated shoulders. A pleated cowl neckline adorned the back bodice. She carried a nosegay of flowers the same as the bride's with pink streamers. Bridesmaids were Jan Ginn of R.R. 3 Clinton, friend of the bride; Janice Young of Goderich, sister of the groom; and Roberta Hays of Walkerton, friend of the bride. They were all gowned the same as the maid of enmiller honor and carried the same flowers. Groomsman was Bill Whitely of R.R. 2 Goderich, friend of the groom. Guests were ushered into the church by Bill Barlow and Jim Ott of Goderich, friends of the groom and Jeff Fisher of Goderich, cousin of the bride arid groom. Ringbearer was Sean Pellow of Goderich, nephew of the bride. Following the wedding * ceremony, a reception was held at Saltford Valley Hall. The bride's mother greeted guests ;Nearing a blue shee,r street length dress with a pink and white carnation corsage. The groom's mother assisted wearing a lilac sheer street length dress with a deep mauve and white carnation corsage. For a wedding trip to northern Ontario, the bride changed to a floral dress with black trim and jacket. Mr. and Mrs. Young will reside at R. R. 2 Goderich. • Prior to the wedding, a stag and doe party was given by members of the wedding party; a luncheon was held for the bride at the Maitland Country Club by Mrs. G. Hays and her daughter Roberta of G ode rich; Taylors Corners presented' the bride 14th a lamp from members fdf the Goderich Township- community; a community shower was held at Benmiller organized by Darlene and Claranne • Jewell, Cathy Fisher and Joan MacPhee; Bess Black and Olive Johnston gave a shower for the groom's relatives; and Gwen Fisher, Mary Pellow and Judy Fisher gave a family shower. They played Londesboro first and won. They next played Benmiller in a well played game and Holmesville came but on 'tOp, thus placing top team and winning the trophy. This shows .that Bill Harris and Darrell Abbott Holmesville news Blanche Deeves correspondent 395-5257 have done a real good job in coaching the Midget boys to bring them this far and make them a team that any coach would be proud to be looking after. On Monday night the Midget boys met with Londesboro for a win. They also, won over Benmiller the next night. On Monday night the Squirt boys met with Stanley for a win. Their tournament which was to be held August -29th was rained out and they play September 12 at 12:00 noon in Goderich.: ThePee Wee boys tour- nament, which was to be held August 29th was can- celled due t� wet weather. It will now be held August 31st and -September 2 ,(Monday and Wednesday nights). weatheepermitting. Besults should be in next week's paper.
