Rough crossing
Two Michiganders en-
countered a rough crossing
on Lake Huron Friday at
3:30 p.m. Randy Stevenson
and Albert Brainard, both
from East Tawas, Michigan
set sail on their 16 ft. Hobie
Cat for Port Austin,
Michigan which is at the east
tip of the thumb of the State
of Michigan. However, due
to fog, they landed at Port
Hope, Michigan. On Satur-
day
aturday at 9:30 a.m. they left
Port Hope for Goderich
broad reaching on one tack.
The only instrument on the
Hobie Cat was a compass.
They landed a short distance
south of the village of Port.
Albert at 2:30 p.m.,Saturday.
Albert Brainard said due to
his misjudgement, they
almost pitchpoled on one oc-
casion.
Since arriving, they have
been entertained by the
residents of the area and
Monday they plan to return
to East Tawas, providing
weather conditions are ideal.
On this type of craft there is
no • protection from the
weather. They estimated the
distance- from Port Hope,
Michigan to Port Albert to be
approximately 60 miles.

pires to call the game to a

spiring service. Bible
reading and prayers were by

taken from St. Luke's
Gospel, Chapter 16, verse 10.
The ladies of the ACW pro-
,vided a coffee hour following
the service.
