championships
Bristol Cream, a six-year-
old thoroughbred owned by
Dr. and Mrs. D. Leeper and
ridden by Marlene Leeper,
qualified for both the Ontario
and the Eastern Canadian
Dressage Championships by
achieving a score of 62.17
and placing sixth at the.
Amberwood Farms
Recognized Dressage Show
in Gormley on ' Sunday,
August 9.
Top score in the field of 33
entries was 65.31 and the
competition included such
riders as Lorraine Stubbs, a
member of the Canadian
Olympic Dressage team.
The. Eastern Canadian
championships will be held
August 29, 30 at Humber
College in Toronto and the
Ontario Championships will
be held in London on. Sep-
,tember 12, 13.

Monday night'O Industrial
Fastball League action
determined the final postions
and placings of the four
Goderich teams for the
Annual Labour Day Tour-
nament.
They .are, in order of
placement, Lakeport Steel,
McGee Pontiacs, Fisher
Builders, and Goal's Sports.
The drafting of players to
complement the tournament
teams will take place later in
August. The league
congratulates these teams
and wishes them luck in the
tournament.

Almasi top junior golfer at sunset
The Sunset has been buzz-
ing with activity these last
few weeks, with lots of vaca-
tioners and members enjoy-
ing the course. It is great to
see so many of the young
people out, receiving
lessons, and I'm sure they
are very thankful to,• Paul
and others who are helping'
them get off to a good start.
On Monday, July 27th, the
winners for the Juniors
were: David Alanasi, . Matt
Wilkinson and Scott Stokes.
Scott Garrow had the least
putts.
On , August 4th, men's
night, Tony Bedard had low
gross; while Bill Chisholm
was the low net winner. Tony
also won - closest to the pin.
First flight went to Bob
McDougall, Don Armstrong
and Paul Baechler; second
flight winners were Ken
Hall, Kerry Willows and Ron
Stanley; while Jim
Crawford, Tom Moore and
Cliff Kennedy were third
flight winners.
Congratulations to Ron
Stanley who was a prize win-
ner at the Listowel tourna-
ment.
August 5th, the Sunset had
another junior day with
David Almasi again taking
the winning spot, followed. by
Matt Buchanan and Scott
Stokes. Ray Bedard did the
best putting, while the chipp-
ing prize went to David
Almasi.
On August 6th, several
ladies went to a tournament
in Stratford. The winners of
prizes " were Verna Kane,
Thora McCabe, Mary Ann
Dempsey and Ellen Connel-
ly. Verna and Thora were
also the winners of the best
ball team. Congratulations
girls!

off to a bad. start in the first

tam D hardball best -of -three
semi-final Monday evening

their runs off starting

leaving Goderich to , chip

The sixth inning saw the
boys manage three runs, but
they couldn't , keep their
momentum going " in the
seventh and they dropped
the.decisiori. Darrell Madge
Scored his second run of the
game, followed by tallies by
Shawn Rahbek and Matthew
Buchanan. •
' Robbie Gibbons had the
most hits for. Goderich, going
four for four, while Ken
Linney had three hits. Jim
Keller shared pitching duties
with David Almasi; and the
two allowed 19 hits and
struck out ten batters bet-
ween them.

Rio Command N, a nine-year-old horse driven by Greg
Darnell, paced in 2.07.2, His winning effort earned him half
- of the $800 purse as -well as the blanket and a trophy. The
race track raised over $700 for MS through purse donations
from the horsemen, selling roses and draw tickets on two
Bulova watches. Feature race at the raceway this week is
the Ron Feagan Memorial Invitation Pace for a purse of
