Katimavik, a volunteer action program for young
Canadians sponsored by the federal government, will
be implemented in Goderich and Seaforth this year.
Left to right, are the Katimavik co-ordinator for this
area, Charlene Sheard and the three group leaders,
Katimavik... •
• from page I,
Any new, youthful f aces you see intown around this
ne, probably will belong to Katimavi'k participants.
"I don't want people to get the wrong impression
because sometimes Katimavik people aren't dressed
very well. Their clothing is limited to the kind you
wear for physical labor and they don't have many
` clothes because of all .the packing and moving around
they have to do," explains co-ordinator Charlene. •
Charlene would also like to explain in advance that
since two of the Katimavik groups will be rotating
from Quebec, some of the members may not speak
much English. But they are willing to learn.
• As a sponsoring town, Goderich must provide m-
teresting and challenging work for the Katimavik
participants. Organizing andsupervising this work is
a committee under the chairmanship of Elsa Haydon.
Committee members include jail curator Harry
Bosnell, museum curator Raymond Scotchmer,
works and engineering committee)Ihairman Bob
Allen, town clerk Larry McCabe and commissioner of
works Ken Hunter.
Mrs. Haydon'explains that Katimavik means more
than free labor for the town. It offers.a learning.and
growing experience for young people as well.
Ifyou have any questions about Katimavik or want
to lend a hand with housing, transporation, furniture
or information, leave a message at town hall.
Huronview
Rev. Scott conducted the
Sunday' morning service in
the new auditorium at
Huronview on Sunday morn-
ing. The sermon subject was
"believe in Christ, belong to
Christ, to be used by Christ,
become Like Christ. The
Huronview choir anthem
was The Comforter Has
Come.
There was a good atten-
dance on Monday afternoon
when residents gathered for
exercises and Rhythm Band.
A short quiz finished off the
afternoon entertainment.
While the ceramic class
finished off their various
projects, A. Davis, D.
Buchanan, P. Connell, B.
Glousher, G. Cornell,
Ross, K. Lynn enjoyed a van
ride to Goderich.
Items needed by -the
residents were bought on the
square before all enjoyed an
enormous ice cream cone. A
quick stop at the fruit stand
on the way home gave
everyone a chance to buy
some fresh fruit.
Card games and checkers
were played in the new
auditorium on Wednesday
afternoon. Mrs. S. Prouty led
the singing and Mrs. G.
Triebner played the organ.
The Scripture reading was
taken from Eph,5: 9-20 and
was read by Eunice Lamb.
Mrs. G. Triebner led in
prayer, and Pat Thurlow
read a poem entitled Songs
Of Zion. Mrs. Ada Tribner
had a Bible Quiz, and Mrs.
Prouty gave the Bible study.
