One concert will be in the bandshell at Niagara Falls at 2:30 p.m. At 7 p.m. the band will play in the bandshell at Queenston Heights. The Laketown Band. has 35 members and is directed by Blake Smith of PortAlbert. Bessie and Roy Bellinger are visiting Ken and Nancy Doherty in Timmins. From Timmins the Bell- ingers will motor to South Lancaster where they will visit with Michael and Janet Bellinger. Agnes Foster, who has been staying at the home of her daughter Ruth and son- in-law Norval Anderson at their summer home in the village has left to spend several weeks with her daughter, Mabel Pitblado in St. Catharines. Bill and Ina Chalk of Cam- bridge ( Galt) spent Thursday with Tom and Anne Livingstone. Larry and Anne Gibson and family, Lisa and Aman- da from Hamilton have been vacationing in the village for the past few weeks. Mr: Gib- son is an employee of Stela). Don and Barb Harrower from Holly, Michigan are spending the summer at their cottage in the village: The Harrowers have been vacationing 'here since 1966: Mr. Harrcwer teaches mathematics at the Pontiac Central High School. In researching the family history, the Harrowers found they originally came from Warwick. Marion and Glen Weaver have a visitor from Holland. Sybilla Van Diepen from Goderich has her sister from Holland visiting in this area for a few days. Gerry and Sharon Weaver and family and Brian and ' Bev Weaver and family are vacationing at Port Loring for a week. Two home owners in the village have encountered .•problems. One has a pro- blem with soil erosion, which will necessitate the moving of his cottage. The other has a problem with an embank- ment, sliding down,. placing pressure and damage to the foundation of one of the nicest, homes in the village. Port Albert beach ex- perienced a busy weekend. In fact,.residents report this has been the busiest weekend of the summer. Gravel roads in the village received an oil treatment Monday from the Ashfield Road Department. This, no doubt,. creates .a problem for motorists for a day . or so. However; it does control the dust and it has been some time since there has. been .any rain in the village. " • - Mr. and Mrs. Kerry's farm. While the community will miss Carman and his wife, they wish them a happy retired -life in Goderich. They are sorry to report however that he was admitted to Goderich hospital last :week and he is wished a speedy recovery. Mrs.- Marvin. Durnin has been a patient fin Goderich hospital and her many friends wish her a return to good health. Joe Moore of Saltford has been in the hospital for a short term and is wished a speedy recovery. Mrs. Ted Kubik ofMeneset had,the misfortune to fracture a bone in her wrist last week. And to the many others not enjoying the best of health, your many friends wish -you a speedy recovery. Tiger Dunlop Women's Institute meeting will be Thursday, July 30 at 8 p.m. Theme of the meeting will be "Year of the Disabled" and slides will be shown on this subject. Mark your calendar and plan to attend. Visitors are welcome. Memorial Day Service at Colborne Cemetery will be Sunday, August 2 at 2 p.m. The Reverend G.L. Reunion The weather was perfect for the reunion op Saturday, July 18 at the home of Grant and Wilma Chisholm of Lucknow for the descendents of William and Lucy Watson and George and Isabella Johnston. Over 50 guests and relatives were present from Belleville, Angus, London, Clinton;Goderich, Lucknow and surrounding district and enjoyed the ,get-together. In the early part of.., the afternoon, about 50 relatives gathered at the home of Mr. and' Mrs. Arnold Young, visiting, renewing friend- ' ships alid offering congratulations. Besides their immediate family, those present were Gerald's sisters Darin and Vivian and their husbands and families; Gerald's aunt Mildred ( Young) Burbon and her son Don Young and wife and family, all of Detroit; Gerald's cousins Ross Burry and Mr. and Mrs. Hall Willings of Toronto; Betty's father .Bob Sowerby; her brother Bruce Sowerby and his wife and family; and Mrs. Helen Dougherty, all of Goderich. Around 5 p.m. they all enjoyed a delicious smorgasbord ,after which they presented the happy couple of 25 years with best wishes and gifts. Gerald and Betty replied with a sincere Kingsbridge man wed by Delores Van Osch Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Bert Knoop who were married in Strathroy on Saturday. Bert is the son of Tony and Bertha Knoop. Mrs. Marie (Courtney) Judge, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Judge and family of Jackson, Michigan, visited with Vivian and Con Hogan, Joe and Teresa Courtney and Marcella Courtney of Goderich this past week. Kathy Hogan of Calgary, Alberta, who has spent a week's vacation with her parents, John and Rita Howard and family, left on Thursday from the Londod- airport to visit her sis r, Jeanette, ,in Halifax. Nova Scotia, before returning to Calgary. Mrs. Yvette Heffernan is spending two weeks vacation in Montreal visiting her two sisters and their families. Bill and Ann Van Osch, Bernie, Jim and Joanne, Pete and Betty Van Osch, David, Brian and Morris; Antone and Delores Van Osch and Joe and Thelma, Van Osch attended the wedding of their niece and cousin, Diane Schuurmans to Geoffery McCullough at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, London on Saturday afternoon. On Monday, ' July 13, members of the C.W.L., Father, Ed Dentinger and Brother Carl Voll and other parishoners enjoyed their annual pilgrimage by bus to the Shrine at St. Marys, Ontario. Parish Picnic The annual Parish Picnic was held in the Ashfield park on Sunday afternoon. A very good attendance enjoyed the perfect warm weather for such a gathering. Most „enjoyed a .swim in the lake, while some of the adults enjoyed playing horseshoes and cards. Races were conducted for the children and an egg- throwing contest for the adults proved to be a "smashing" event.. Hot dogs and pop were served by the CWL and everyone enjoyed an ice cream treat .provided by Father Dentinger. SocialNews Morgan Walton of Huronview has been vacationing with his uncle, Ray Dalton and cousins. Special visitors with Margaret Frayne for the weekend were Wendy , Rudolph and Tanya Kock of London. Peter Frayne and friend, Valerie Gibson of Ottawa visited with his parents, Don and Rose Frayne and family. Visitors on the weekend with Clarice Dalton and family were her sisters, Lorraine, husband, John Dietrick, son, John Jr. and Patti Dean of Mississauga, and Lucille and husband, Ken King of British Columbia. On Monday, Betty Frayne took them to Elora to visit the Elora Gorge and her brother, Kevin Kramer, Mrs. Kramer and family. Visiting with John Austin, and Joe have been Mr. and Mrs. Joe Judge and family of Jackson, Michigan. On Tuesday evening of last week, several in the area attended a community shower in honour of Karen Rewink, bride -elect at the Trinity United Church Hall. thankyou to their daughters and Donna and Arnold Young for .r their hospitality and to all who came to make it a memorable occasion. Mr. and Mrs. William Taman, Highway 21, north, .Goderich, had a wonderful 'homecoming week' starting Monday, July .6 when their daughter, Pamela, her husband Gerald and her daughter Wendy returned home from years of service in Germany. Gerald E rams has now taken up residence with his wife and daughter in North Bay where he Will, still be in the Service. The Emms enjoyed their' years in Germany. It was a won- derful experience and they made many friends but they were so glad to be back in Canada because there's no place like home. During the -week, Wendy Emms celebrated her 15th birthday and of course, Mr. and Mrs. Taman's other daughter, Delores and her husband and family of London and their son, William and his wife and family of Bayfield joined in the get-together., ,Mrs. Taman's brother Art Murray. and son Benny from.British Columbia, brother Elwood Murray from Toronto and sister, Mrs. Rose Bowler of Toronto also visited --them at this time.
