Monday morning, "Did you have a relaxing weekend?". There is no disputing the need of the human body and mind for rest and relaxation. When there is insufficient rest or relaxation, a person can be headed for a' breakdown. Our spiritual nature is no different. Yet, many people overlook the fact that we need a spiritual resting - place as much as we need rest for our bodies. Multiple Sclerosis t Satiety of Canada holidays as a time to avoid the worship and Word of. Jesus Christ who said "Come unto Me,—and will give you rest.—and you will find rest for your souls". (Matthew 11: 28-29) Physically, many people are able to function for a time on nervous energy with a small amount of sleep. But in time they must either find rest or collapse from physical exhaustion. Similarity, a person may go without a spiritual resting place by living without Christ aslhe center off life. A person may be resting on the security of talent, intellect, money, job, friendships, or health. A single tragedy can shatter those hopes. The per- son can collapse from spiritual exhaustion. Jesus invited us to look for the most important rest we need. Those who labour under a burden of guilt, anx- iety for the future, spiritual exhaustion, are invited to find rest in Christ. He invites us to wear His easy yoke, of faith, trust, and hope. Even while going through life's struggles and problems, the follower of Jesus has the soul -rest of knowing the final outcome; his or her final destination.' .We can rest and relax in God's love when we know. that by the death and resur- GUARANTEED INVESTMENT CERTIFICATES I BRUCE ERSKINE SI North 524-9533 rection of His Son' Jesus Christ, sin's guilt is wiped away, and death's sting is gone. In Psalm 32, King David admits that he had a terrifying restlessness anti! he said. "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord - and (God) forgave the guilt of my sin.'(verse 5) Then he also knew ,',.`the Lord's unfail- ing love surrounds the rnan who trusts in Him".. How about you, dear reader? Are you finding the rest you need? In the word and worship of Jesus Christ, summer or winter, you can receive that rest for your souls that prepares you for daily work, and for eternal life in the presence of God.
