Midgets Collapse
The Goderich Midgets
girls lost a hard-fought 13-11
decision to a 'vastly -
improved Mildmay team
Sunday.
The girls defeated Mild-
may handily earlier in the
year but the opposition made
several fine defensive plays
in the rematch. Goderich
jumped to a 6-1 .lead by
scoring three in the first and
adding three in the second.
Mildmay then took ad-
vantage of some wild pit-
ching in scoring three in the
third and two more in the
fifth. Mary O'Neill then put
Goderich bads in the lead
with a two -run homer in the
bottom of the fifth.
After a scoreless sixth, the
roof fell in on Goderich. The
first seven Mildmay batters
reached base and scored to
make it 13-8 for Mildmay.
Goderich scored three in the
bottom of the seventh but left
the tying run on second when
the third out was made.
Leading the 13 -hit attack
were Mary O'Neill, Teresa
Donnelly, Patti Rear, Deb
Mitchehnore and Terrilyn
Fisher who hail t : :c points
each.
O'Neill had a home run
while Donnelly and Rean had
triples among their hits.
Playing strongly in the field
was Leslie Rean.
The pitching tandem of
Deb Mitchehnore and Sue
Bell allowed only eight hits
but they gave up 11 walks.
The girls' next home game is
Sunday at 1:30 at the
Agricultural Park against a
strong club from Walkerton.

Harvey of Kincardine played
excellent tennis in the final
