Senior citizen
complex complete
A year after the 'first sod
was turned, Huron County's
largest senior citizens
complex has been completed
and tenants are moving in.
The complex, located at
the comer of West and
Waterloo Streets, houses 54
one -bedroom units, and
Huron County Housing
manager Bill Tugwell has
already rented out 24 of the
units.
Rent for an apartment is
geared to the income of the
senior citizen leasing it.
However, rent will not ex-
ceed $302 for an apartment,
explained Tugwell.
Tile beautiful building was
designed by Hill and Borgel
Architects Of Goderich and
built by KeIty-Lyn Con-
struction. It is four stories
high and contains several
appealling features for
(sari nun°
Mr. and Mrs. Murray
Craig are the security
tenants of the bullang, and
every room has an intercom
system that will bun their
apartment as well as admit
visitorsat thefront door.
Two of the apartments are
designed for people in
wheelchairs. There is a
hobby and craft room, a
lounge,, laundry room, card
room, and garbage room as
well as elevators.
Each apartment is about
480 square feet and has a
balcony or terrace. Also,
there are saftey-locked
windows, and grab bars in
the washmoms.
The new building in
Goderich brings the nuinber
of senior citizens units in the
county up to 355.

Symphony gets new name
•Music in Landoll, Ontario
has justheen injected with a
new name, a new look and a
new sound
For more than a quarter
century, the London *Il -
phony Orches-tra has lived in
the shadow of its more
renowned namesake in
Landau, England
But no mare. The new
name is ORCHESTRA
LONDON CANADA_ The
new look is incorporated in
the logo' that identifies the
name - reflecting the
tradition of musical ex-
cellence built by our
Orchestra since its inception
more than 40 years ago.
Originally called the
London Civic Symphony
Orchestra, the name was
changed to London Sym-
phony Orchestra in 1956, at a
time when there was little
worry about confusing our
Orchestra with its English
counterpart. Today,
however, with the fully
profess local sounds of
Orchestra London reaching
out to widening and diverse
audiences, with recording
and touring among its
broadened objectives, a
more singular identification
has become a necessity.
The new sound of the
Orchestra results from the
engagement of Vienna -born
Alexis Hauser, who will take
command of the podium this
fall as- Orchestra London's
Music Director and Cow
ductor. An internationally
recognized composer and
musician, the 33 -year-old
Hauser already has won
enthusiastic approval of
symphony patrons in prior
appearances in the slity.
In 1981-82 Orchestra
Landon will perform a seven -
concert Symphony Series
and five -concert Family
Pops series in its regular
home at Centennial Hall,
along with regional ap-
pearances in surrounding
communities (including
Goderich), a children's
series, educational per-
formances, cabaret nights,
oratorios and a new chamber
series presented in con-
junction with the University
of Western Ontario Faculty
of Music.
