The Goderich United A
soccer .club .lost a 1-0 hear-
tbreaker to Strathroy last
'Sunday here in Goderich.
The game lived up to
expectation. asitproved to be
both exciting and enjoyable
for spectators.
The first half seemed to be
to Goderich's disadvantage
as at times they appeared
disorganized and somewhat
confused by Strathroy's
short, swift passes and ex-

steady play by United's
fullbacks, Strathroy would
surely have had more than
one goal
Strathroy's goal came
after one of their players
walked in on United's net,
but was robbed of a shot as
Bill Walters cleared the ball
from off of the Strathroy
player's foot to give them a
corner kick.
Strathroy took the corner
but the ball was cleared by
,,United to the 18 -yard mark.
However, a Strathroy
fullback moved up, met the
ball squarely, and sent it
home into the top left hand
side just inside the post.
In the second half, United
began to pick up the play
although at times they still
seemed disorganized even
though -they controlled the
play. They had several
chances to pull even but
could not finish off their
plays and put the ball in the
net.
At one point, Lee Arbour
sent a beautiful hard drive
from 18 yards out, only to:
have it hit the crossbar and
be cleared by Stra toy.
Karl Kromher and Bob
Millner both had good
chances but again.,.failed to
put the ' ball 'behind the
Strathroy keeper...
"English" Bob Millner,
Bill "Gator" Walters and
Dennis "Bones" Donnelly all
pied strong, games for
United and should be
commended for it. Also,
congratulations are ex-
tended to Karl Kromher who
had a `phantom' hat trick for
United.
United is now 3-2-1 for
seven points 'and third spot
