(RE) CHAMBERS George A. (Joe) Chambers of 195 Maple Street, Goderieh died Toesday„ June 2 in Alexandra Marine and General Hospital at the age ei58. He was born in Goderich Township on October 12,1922 to -Frank -aiIdM0rie (Ducharme) (lumbers. He married Evelyn Mae Sproul in Goderich on August 14, 1947 and they resided in Goderich. She predeceased him in 1979. The late Mr. Chambers was assistant foreman for the Works Departmed of the Town of Goderich. During World War 11, he served in Canada, theUnited • Weagdom andCoilf&-iental Europe as Private No. A9980. He enlisted at Wolseley Barracks, London, A.F. on January 13, 1942 and was discharged at Wolseley Barracks, London, C.A. on ...January 18, 1946. He was a member and past gedclast-af -Royal Caneaaa Legion, Branch 109 and a member of North Street United Church. He is survived by one daughter, Annie Marie Chambers, at home; one sister; Farniy (Violet) FileardoWin andone brother, . Maitland Chambers, both of Goderich. . A funeral service was held at Stiles Funeral Horne in Goderich on Thursday, June 4 at 2 p.m. The Reverend Robert 0. Ball officiated. Royal Canadian Legion Branch 109 held a manorial service at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 3 at 9 Interment was in the Mal land Cemetery. Pallbearers were Stan Meriam, Ivan Louzon, Telford Bissett, George Sch- wanz, Ken Williams and WalterSheardawn. Flower bearers were Bill littlechild, Murray Cam- pbell, Terry Meriam and Pete Spain. Homecoming Dear Editor: • PATIA- JOYCE E. COLES Mrs. Joyce E. Coles, formerly Major Clarke, were' known in Goderich as the C.Q. of the local Salvation Army Corps, died Tuesday, May 26 in her77th year. She became a brigadier December 7, 1967. Three years later, she Married Fred Coles, an officer of the Leamington Corps. He predeceased her seven years ago. She was also predeceased by one sister, Ada Hallam, four weeks ago. She is survived by one sister, MarjoryTodd. Captain Charles Wills officiated at the funeral and burial was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. MRS.HELEN MARION MITCHELL Mrs. Helen Marion Mit- chell, formerly of Guelph, great-granddaughter of John Galt of the Canada Com - pony, died at • Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Stmday, May 31 in her 79th year. She was barn and raised in Goderich, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Galt. Her father was the post master here for many years. She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Armstrong Mitchell. She is strew' ed hy one daughter, Mrs. Helen Hargraft of Toronto and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Clingan of Goderich.
