fastball action Sunday night,
Lakeport Steel edged Hotel
Bedford 6-5, Fisher Builders
shut out the Canada Coin-
pany 5-0, and McGee Pon-
tiacs outscored Gord's
Sports 5-3.

- It was a close match
between Bedford and
Lakeport, a game which
featured four home runs.

at one point, until Lakeport
came back to score several
runs in the final innings to
win
Brian Sowerby hit a double
in the second inning to bring
in Ron Hunking and Doug
Cruickshank to score Bed -
foil's first two runs. In the
third,n Austin got on with
a single' then Bill Black hit
the first home run of the day
for two more Bedford runs.
Brian McKenzie made it 4-
1 in the top of the fourth
inning when he scored off 01
Carmen Fielder's double.
Fielder kept rounding the
bases, but Bedford catcher
Brian Sowerby beat him out
on the play.
Lakeport tied the game a'
four -all at the top of thesixtl
inning. Bruce Bowman hit a
home run at the start of the
inning, and Brian McKenzie
followed that act with
-another home run to make it
4.3. Then Ron Miller got on
base with a single, was
advanced by Carmen
Fielder, and brought home
by Lloyd Tigert's double.
Bedford went ahead in the
,sixth with Bill Black's
second home run of the game
to make it 5-4.
Tim- McLean and Brian
McKenzie both scored . for
Lakeport Steel in the top of
the seventh to secure the
victory.
McKenzie pitched for
Lakeport, while Ron Austin
was on the mound for Hotel
Bedford.

The seventh inning saw

when he hit a single, Wally
,Pierson sacrifited, and Hoy
doubled to enable him to
score.

two Industrial Fastball
League wins last week,
shutting out Hotel Bedford 4-
0 last Tuesday bight and
edging Lakeport Advertising
3-2 on Sunday.
Darrell Beattie and , Jim
Martin shared pitehing
duties for the winning team,
dismissing.dreg batters and
allo ing three hits. Ron
Austin was on the mound for
Hotel Bedford and' shuck out
two batters and allowed
seven hits. • -
Dennis Miskie scored the
first G&P rim m the second
inning after he got on 'base
with a walk. Rick Whetstone
and Bill Wraith hit con,
secutive singles to bring
Miskie home to score.
Miskie scored the second
run of the game in the fourth
inning when he got on base
through an error. Darrell
Beattie sacrificed and Bill
Wraith singled to bring him
in again.
The last two runs came in
the sixth inning. With none
out, John Warr Was walked,
then Miskie sacrificed to
advance Bier!. Beattie
followed with • a double to
bring in Warr. Whetstone
then sacrificed to advance
Beattie, and Bill Wraith
singled to bring in Beattie.
Hotel Bedford never came
close, as the G&P defense
kept any of their runners
from getting past first base.
It was a closer affair
Sunday, however, as G&P
nipped Lakeport Advertising
3-2 with the last run being
scored in the top of the fourth
inning.

together on bur own. These
two well qualified gentlemen
will be giving us lessons for

gross winner, while first low
net went to Al MacDonald.

In the fourth, John Philips
bit a single then Mike
Frayne followed with a home
run to tie up the game at
three apiece. Ken "Daer hit a
home run in the fifth to give
McGees the lead
Philips hit a single in the
sixth, and was advanced by
Frayne and Claire Harman
to score McGees' fifth and
final run.
Ken Daer pitched six
suike-outs for Mees and
allowed six hits, while Des
Courtney dismissed one
batter. and allowed nine hits
for the losing team.
