A few near upsets in Slowpitch this week
BY BRUCE BAKER
The Goderich Men's
Slowpitch League turned the
first corner in their schedule
this week as they began their
two rounds of Inter -
Divisional play. It appears
as though consistency, not
ability, is the major factor in
determining divisional
status.
There were a few near
upsets this week. The
firemen had to reach deep to
score four runs in the
seventh to defeat Optimists 6
to 5. Meneset, tied 1 -1 with
Tickers in the seventh, got 2
runs to clinchthe victory.
And Coyotes, trailing
Selinger Wood 5 to 4 in the
bottom Of the seventh,
scored 3 runs with 2 out to
seal a victory.
Whenever a team in a so-
called "Upper" division
plays a team from a "lower"
division, watch out, because
anything can happen. There
is not that much difference!

tom of the seventh, Bill
Smith singled for
