Raceway patrons may get relief Goderich Raceway patrons who, in the past have found themselves rather uncomfortable at races after taking advantage of the beer garden, may find relief this year with the possible ad- dition of some portable washrooms. Ken Crawford appeared before the recreation board Thursday night and told the board that the washroom facilities at the erandstand have not been adequate for the numbers of people at the ' races, especially for those who have visited the beer garden.. Rec board member Ron Bushell said, "If there's a problem with washrooms, then it's the responsibility* of - the -the rec board to supply some (portable washrooms) if the Racing Association will maintain them." Rec director Jane Nelzke advised the board that portable washrooms are very expensive, and perhaps she should look into the matter before the rec board gives the racing association an answer as to the number and where they will be placed The board also gave Crawford the go ahead to re- model the concession booth used by the association on racing nights, and to allow the Kinnettes and Ku's!nen to sell the snacks aswas the case last season. Opening night at the Goderich Raceway is July 2, -and races- - will , continue every Thursday night ,for nine weeks. Director. Jane Netzke supported Hruden and said that several teams have the problem; and if there was a std witb_togket's. lar i ftir each group, then the problem could be solved. The board told Hruden that soccer equipment could be stored in the pool house during the winter, but could not suggest any place for the summer. Several hoekey players became 111 as a result of high carbon monoxide emissions from the tractor that was. cleaning the ice on a more frequent basiitha'd usual. He said that one way it can be solved is to install a vent so that fresh air can be pumped into the arena. Another possibility is to install a catylitic purifier on the tractor to reduce emissions. However, ,the tractor must be warmed up in a separate well -ventilated roan, and must bekept well -tuned.
