Request for church denied A request by the building _ committee of the Goderich Christian Reformed Church to;acquireland on the north side of the Suncoast extension to con- struct a new church has been denied; A couple of months ago, representatives of the church asked council about the availability of a piece of land west of the Graham Electric property for the construction of a new church. Council referred the matter to the Economic Development Committee and. the committee recommended the request be denied. Councillor Elsa Haydon indicated that planning board would be forwarding several objections to the proposed church location. Committee chairman, Jack Brady said that during a detailed review of the official plan update, the committee forwarded comments to planning board recommending that the land in question be zoned light industrial. Goderich clerk, Larry McCabe said three bylaws were circulated re zoning the property to light in- dustrial. Several objections were recieved on the. bylaw and will be dealt with by council. Clerk McCabe said perhaps some concessions would have to be made with the objectors to avoid an Ontario Municipal Board hearing. The Economic Development Committee recom- mended to council that the land not be sold for the purpose of a church since it is a prime light industrial Property. 1 The former Curie Myrtle Lavin wasborn in Holmesville on May 27,1 .
