Amy Wiggins opened the meeting and Doris Hodges and Nora Saunders were in charge of the devotional which included a reading, How do 'we Hear? - and a discussion on an article in the Observer concerning the new ,church being started in Lon- don suburbs by Rev. Glen Wright, a former Dungannon minister. Bessie McNee chaired the. business part of the meeting and minutes of last meeting were read, also correspond- ence. An invitation was re- ceived to attend Blyth United Church on May 31 to hear a gospel singing group, The U.C.W. agreed to give finan- cial help to the C.G.LT, in their project to plant flowers' --around the church.. 3t -cam decided to order some copies of "The Mandate" magaz- ine. Helen Dawson conduct- ed a Bible Quiz. Doris Hodges and Nora Saunders served a delicious lunch. Alesia and Laura Gardner of Stratford are staying with their grandparents, Ross and Isabel Eedy, for a couple of wee��Q;wlud�;..tli � Rosemary, is a patient' in Stratford hospital. Rosemary underwent surgery on Wed- nesday, \ Reverend and Mrs. Clar- erice McClenaghan of 'Kin- cardine visited friends • in Dungannon on Tuesday ev- ening and enquired for the sick and otherfriends. The slo-pitch season is with us again, and plans are in the stages for a second ball diamond to be put in opera- tion at the Agriculture Park, mainly to accommodate the many tournaments held in our area. The winners were as follows: senior girls, Janice Cook; runner-up, Wilma Vander- velde; senior boys, Wayne Bos; runner-up, Paul Hack- ett; intermediate girls, Lore - lee Howes; runner-up, Chris Gibson; intermediate boys. Leroy Dougherty; junior girls, Shelley Good; runner- up. Heather Ohne junior boys, Scott Hackett; runner- up, Brian Gruendler; midget girls, Donna Raynard; run- ner-up, Kim Tyler; midget boys, Michael Bauer: run- ner-up, Scott Gibson, Philip Luedenmann, Kirk Living- ston (tied); primary girls, Melissa Logtenberg; runner- up, Shauna Andrew; primary boys, Adrian Rau; runner- up, Jeff Storey, John Wright (tied). The Regional Field Day will be held on May 28. The schools involved are Brook- side, Co)orne, Robertson, Victoria and Holmesville. Parents are invited to come. Mr_ Liddle's ream 8- Grade Suit, went en a camping trip to Camp Menesetung. They left Tuesday. May 19 and came back May 20. The weather made the trip most enjoy- able. Grades seven and eight are preparing for their, exams which will be written from June 2 to June 10. Mrs. Wilson's room 1, grade one, visited at the Wingham Hospital. They were also able to visit Mrs. Graham who is presently there. The school is getting good. co-operation from die com- munity in the' effort to raise money 'for the adventure playground. This is greatly appreciated. The 125th Dun- gannon Birthday Party com- ntittce gave -Brookside SI .000 to help in the Community Playground facility. We thank the Dungannon com- munity for this generous donation. We look forward to working with other commun- ity groups to complete this project. Youth charged A 16 -year-old youth has been arrested and charged with mischief by Goderich police following an in- cident early Sunday morning in which nine small globe maple trees Were broken. The trees were planted about two weeks ago on the sidewalks all aroundTheSquare. Total damage to the frees, excluding labor, is estimated at $387. Police also recovered two stolen vehicles on the weekend. (Sugar) Meriam, retired foreman . of Goderich's works depart- ment, epartment, died Monday evening in Alexandra Marine and General Hospital at the age of 76, There will be visitation at Stiles Funeral Home in Goderigh today and this evening (Wednesday )- with a funeral service at the funeral home tommorrow ( Thur- sday) a t 2 p.m A more complete obituary on the late Mr. Meriam will appear in next week's edition of this newspaper. JUNE (TUFFORD) SHARPE June (Tiifford)' Sharpe of - Stoney Creek died suddenly at Grimsby on Saturday, May 16 in her42nd year. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Sharpe; two . daughters, Mrs. Clive (Deborah) Chapion and Mrs. Joseph (Gale) Labranche, and one son, Raymond, all of Stoney Creek; her father; Frank Tufford of Goderich; and " one granddaughter, Brandy -Lee. WHEREAS by virtue of the provisions contained In The Public Utilities Act. R.S.A. 1114,r,Chopter 3111, Section 12. a munladpal corporation may pass by -lows for regulating, among other things, the time, manner, extent and nature of the supply by the works, Me building or person to which and to whom water shall be furnished and every other matter or thing stated to or connected therewith in order to secure to the inhabiters; Is of -the nrunidpailty a continued and abundant supply of purr and wholesome water; AND WHEREAS pursuant to Section 41, Sub -section 1 of the said Act. when a com- mission has been established, all the powers, rights, authorities and privileges that are by the Act conferred on a municipal corporation shall be exercised by the com- mission; AND WHEREAS /,t is deemed desirable to regulate the hours and conditions under which water shall be supplied for the purpose of watering lawns and' other areas within the Town of Goderich and to provide for offences for contravention of such regulation; 7:1 NOW THEREFORE The Public Utilities Commission of the Town of Goderieh enacts as follows: 1 (b) No person being the owner or tenant or occupant of property shall permit water from the munidpol water system to be used for the purposes of'washing, watering or Irrigatl:y any !awn, garden, landscaped area, =Omit area, concrete arca, or any other area of such property; (b) No -person having the apparent care and. control of property shall permit .water from the munkipol water system to be used for the purposes of washing. watering or irrigating any lawn, garden, landscaped area, asphalt area, concrete area, or any other area of such property; • (c) For the purposes of section 1(a), "pawner' shall be deemed to include persons who are shown as such on the then current assessment rolls for the Town of Goderich. or persons who areOhe registered owners of property as disclosed in the records of the Land Registry Office. 2. This by-law shall be deemed not to prohibit the otherwise lawful use of water from the municipal water system during the months of January to May, both inclusive, and October to December both inclusive In any calendar year. 3. During the months of June. July, , r . nd September In any year. this by-law shall be deemed not to prohibit f otherwi lawful use of water from the municipal water system as follows: (a) Water may be used for all lawful purpose Ith respect to properties which lie en- tirely to the east of an imaginary line d from the intersection of the centre line of North Street with the northerly oundary of the Town of Goderich; thence southerly along the centre line of North Street to its intersection with Court House Square; thence southerly along the southerly production of the centro line of North Street at its intersection with the northerly point of the centre line of South street; thence southerly along the centre line of South Street to its intersection with the southerly boundary of the Town of Goderich, but only during the hours of ` p.m. to 1 p.m. local time Monday, Wednesday and Friday and i o.rn.,to 11 a.m. local time Sunday in each week: (b) Water may be used for oil lawful purposes with respect to properties which lie en- tirely to the wast of the imaginary lure described in section 3 (a) but only during the hours of 4 p.m. to 1 p.m. local time Tuesday. Thursday and Saturday, and $ o.rn. to 11 a.rn. local time Sunday in each week. 4. Notwithstanding Section 1 tho4ommission, or its authorised officer. may be special permit. permit the use of water from the municipal water system for all otherwise lawful purposes an such terms and conditions as the Commission or its authorized of- ficer deems advisable. Each of the Chairman. Vice-Chalr•rnan, Manager, and Secretary of the Commission is deemed to be an authorized officer within the meaning of this by-law. Special permits will be in a forret sinnilar to that in attached Schedule "A" which forms* part of this by-law. 5. Notwithstanding Sections 2. 3 and 4 of this by-law. in the event of a fire to which the Town of Goderich Fire Department is tolled, no person being the owner, tenant, or oc- cupant, or having the apparent care and control of property. upon notification ;hail permit water from the municipal water system to be used for the purposes of washing, watering or irrigating any lawn. garden. landscaped area. asphalt area, concrete areas, or any other area of such property. b. This by -low shall be deemed not to apply to The Municipal Corporation of the Town of Goderich. 1. Anyone who contravenes this by-law is guilty of an offence and is Liable on convic- tion too fine of not more than 300 dollars. 1. Illy -law No. 10 of The Public Utilities Commission of the Town of Goderich passed on the 15th day of June. 1073 is hereby repealed save with respect to proceedings which have been commenced under Ily-low No. 10 prior to the date of fusel passage of this by-law. 0. This by-law may be referred to as "The Watering Control By -low". 14. This by-law shall take effect from and after the date of its•finoi passage. GODERICH PUBLIC
