Mayor wants to
combat criminal acts
EXETER - The opening of
Exeter's police station was
more than just a official
celebration, it was also a
time for serious thoughts and
challenges.
Mayor Bruce Shaw said it
was time to tell the law
makers and enforcers that a
change was needed to
combat the criminal acts
confronting society.
He made reference to the
"disgusting" aggassination
attempt on Pope John Paul
11, noting that it was enough
to make people cringe and
throw up their arras and ask
what the world is coming to.
"It's time for per-
missiveness to end," Mayor
Shaw stated in reference to
lenientcoartsentences.
