Once immigrants them-
selves, the Dutch -Canadians
have now reversed their
roles by helping other less
fortunate people begin new
lives in Canada. Along with
offering their financial and
spiritual support to two
young families, two
congregation members have
also opened their homes to
four Southest Asian
teena gers.
It came about two months later but one day the wooden
crates of furniture arrlved at the Clinton train station and
at last the John Greidanns Sr., family, of Londesboro, had
all their worldly possessions shipped from Holland. That's

Christian School
established in 1962
Following their steadfast
religious beliefs, the desire
to establish a Christian
elementary schoil was.
firmly embedded in the
hearts of the people who
emigrated from The
Netherla nds. •
In Clinton, the Christian
School Society' was
established in June of 1953
with a support of 40 parents.
Over the next several years,
financial and moral support
continued to grow and on
.January 19, 1962 the schiol
board was able to announce
that a new two -room schodl
would open in September.
The building was con-
structed on land north of the
Christian Reformed Church
at the east end of Princess
Street. and free labor helped
to put the school up, and keep
the costs down.
That September, 54
children, from Grade 1 to
Grade 8 sat in the brand new
desks and learned their
lessons.
Today, under the direction
of principal Mr. Ralph
Schuurman, the school has
an enrolment of over 200 and
